A fan who wasn't too impressed with the trailer for the new Harry Potter series has taken matters into their own hands.

A host of people have shared one major gripe about the teaser, which HBO released on Thursday (24 March).

But thankfully, one social media user who is seemingly a dab hand at editing videos has tweaked the footage to get rid of an 'uncomfortable' aspect in the official version.

Potterheads have been combing through the two-minute clip to try and pick up on all of the details that HBO are packing into this new series, which has promised to delve into plot lines that the film franchise bypassed.

The spin-off series has been described as a 'faithful' adaptation of the books written by JK Rowling, who acts as an executive producer.

But although the teaser trailer left some fans wowed, others pointed out what they think is a major issue with it.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "Looks really well produced, the sets and costumes are great…but I feel zero magic. It’s missing that little spark. Maybe I'm just too nostalgic for the colour grading of the 2001 film."

Another added: "First Harry Potter trailer just dropped and it looks expensive as hell, but that colour grading took all the magic out."

While a third said: "Why the hell on earth did they make Harry Potter so colourless man. It's not a thriller bro."

As you can see, a lot of folks reckon it's missing the 'magic' that they felt the films brought - which is quite awkward, considering this is a series about the wizarding world.

And that is why one person decided to do us all a favour and 're-grade' the footage to bring a bit more life to it.

Credited to a user known as @fakana357, the saturation of the original video has been modified to give it some more pizzazz, and people think it looks much better.

One social media user said: "Yes, 100% better. The ugly colour grading doesn't fit the world at all."

Another added: "It’s a good start. Please take note, @HBO."

A third wrote: "I'm tired of EVERYTHING getting desaturated, especially stuff like Potter which should be vibrant."

A fourth said: "Everyone looks sickly by comparison in the original. They really need to re-think the grading."

While a fifth chimed in: "Dude. This is way better."

Others pointed out that this is likely 'not the final colour' grading that will be used in the series, as one said: "I need people not in production to understand that while they did publish this trailer…this show is going to be changing until it’s released and even after it’s released."

Another suggested: "Desaturated style was intended. That's the vibe of this trailer."

While a third joked: "Just put the brightness up on your TV if your looking for this 're-grade'."

Everything we learned from the Harry Potter TV series trailer

Harry shown at Muggle school

We might not have gotten a proper view of the iconic platform nine-and-three-quarters during the trailer, but one of the key details we did get a look at is Harry at a Muggle school, giving fans a glimpse into previously unseen parts of his childhood.

Harry and Hagrid take the London underground

The 2001 movie doesn't really delve into how Harry and Hagrid actually got around London for their shopping trip to Diagon Alley, but the new trailer gave us a peek at the pair hopping on the underground.

A good look at Hogwarts in unexpected detail

The trailer also gave fans a good look at Hogwarts, the sorting hat and even Ollivander as well as a first look at Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia (Daniel Rigby and Bel Powley), who are seen taunting Harry, telling him he's 'nothing special'.
