A horrified woman screamed helplessly while undergoing a real exorcism on TV, which saw a demon be 'driven' out of her body.

The chilling ordeal took place on the second episode and sixth season of Discovery plus' TV series Help! My House is Haunted.

You'll probably have seen dramatisations of the holy ritual being carried out in numerous Hollywood films over the years, such as The Exorcist and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, but viewers were given an insight into how it actually plays out on the new episode.

Ian Lawman, a psychic medium, doused British housewife Emma in holy water while reciting passages from the Bible in the terrifying confrontation of evil.

During the exorcism, he was pushing her to call for help from a loved one in the spirit world, that would drive the demon out, so she screamed for the help of het late grandfather, with the exorcist attempting to repel the evil spirit.

After reciting The Lord's Prayer, he also gave her a St Benedict's medal, which should protect her from the evil entity from 'coming back'.

Emma explained that she would go through the exorcism to banish her home of any evil spirits, that would bite her and grab her wrists while she was in bed.

She had been living in their new-build home in Worcestershire for four years with her husband, before being targeted by spirits.

"These things are just latching onto me. I was woken up and there were people walking through my wall. I don’t sleep," she admitted.

Every time I try to go to sleep they grab me around the wrist and I can feel their fingers. I can feel them touching me. I can smell them."

Revealing further that she 'can't do a thing' about feeling 'its tongue and wetness of its mouth', Ian and other fellow TV investigators Barri Ghai and Jayne Harris discovered that the land which the house was built on had a history of 'bloodshed and death’.

During the ceremony, a terrified Emma screamed: "leave me alone - this is my body," as the demon as driven out of her.

While it was happening, she also pointed out that 'someone's screaming in my head', 'my body's shaking' and desperately: "Help me please - I didn’t ask for this".

The exorcist focused on the 'shadow man', that would taunt Emma by telling her that 'you won't get rid of me' as she said that he was 'showing me his teeth'.

"You have no power over me. This is my f**king house. Get out," she screamed at the spirit.

Initially, Ian blindfolded Emma and held a crucifix up to her, and she put her arm out to block it, even though she couldn't see it.

This prompted the exorcist to go ahead with the full ceremony, as the entity was 'trying to resist' him.

"Exorcism is always a last resort but in this case it’s the only way to detach the spirit and move it on,’’ he insisted. "It was a really dark entity. It was actually a lot deeper than I thought.’’

Jayne commented on the spirit's attachment to Emma, which meant that it wouldn't give up easily, while Barri admitted that it was 'the most intense evening we’ve ever experienced’.
