The two biggest stars from the Game of Thrones epic fantasy TV show have revealed why they haven't watched its spin-off House of the Dragon. And going by their words, it's not something they're going to sit down and enjoy any time soon.

The second season of House of the Dragon has just come to an end, with fans seriously divided over the controversial finale.

Some labelled it a 'massive let down', questioning why the whole season focused on so little of the source material.

There was one epic cameo, though, which fans lost their marbles at after saying it confirmed one massive theory about the original Game of Thrones show.

Two stars of the original show, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington, have given their thoughts on the spin-off. And while they were full of praise for the success it has achieved, they revealed watching it isn't their cup of tea.

Clarke starred as Daenerys Targaryen across eight seasons with Harington taking up the role of Jon Snow.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment ahead of the third season of HBO show Industry, in which Harington stars as new character Henry Muck, he 'just can't watch' House of the Dragon.

"For me, it's just that I've spent too long there," he openly said.

"And I wish them all the best and I hope - and I hear - it's wonderful and going really well. But I don't think I'll ever watch that show.

"And I don't think I'll watch Game of Thrones again for very many years."

Harington has been open about his struggles with Game of Thrones coming to an end after eight years, with his struggles with alcoholism, ADHD, and anxiety inflamed by the fear of the unknown.

His co-star Emilia Clarke revealed last year that she has also not watched the spin-off show, albeit for very different reasons.

Speaking to Variety on why the refuses to sit down and watch it, Clarke said: "It's too weird. I'm so happy it is happening, I'm so over the moon at all the awards, for everyone that has made it.

"I just can't do it, it's so weird, it's so strange. It's kind of like do you want to go to this school reunion that's not your year? That's kind of how it feels. I'm avoiding it."

Some are convinced the reason for their avoidance is the controversial end to the final season, with one TikTok user writing: "Season eight left a bitter taste in Kit's and everyone else’s mouth."

On the second series of House of the Dragon, another fan said: "He did himself a favour. The most disappointing season."

House of the Dragon is set to end after its fourth season, which should air in roughly four years time with season three coming in 2026.

The show is based on the 'Dance of the Dragons' story from George R. R. Martin's Fire & Blood book.
