Over the past four weeks, the nation has been hooked on BBC's The Traitors as the Faithfuls desperately attempted to work out who the Traitors amongst them were.

It all came to a head in last night's final when faithful Mollie realised she'd been stitched up by one of her closest allies, leaving Traitor Harry walking away with the full £95,150 grand prize in one of the 'most brutal moments in TV history.'

Take a look at the shock twist here:

But beyond its dramatic final episode, The Traitors really puts its contestants through the wringer, with difficult physical challenges and round-table discussions that regularly leave them in tears.

It's left viewers wondering how much they get paid to take part in the undeniably stressful once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It turns out, the cast don't get paid an appearance fee for being on the show but are given a daily allowance.

While some contestants don't last too long before getting 'banished' or 'murdered,' for those who make it to the final, they take a considerable amount of time off work. The allowance is to help out with any lost earnings.

The Traitors has become a massive hit for the BBC.

Season one winner Aaron Evans revealed: "They don't technically pay you, they subsidise what you would have got for work with the show, it's roughly like £100 a day. It's not that much... but it's definitely worth it."

So for the contestants who are banished or murdered early in the show, their allowance will be significantly less than their peers.

The Traitors has been a massive hit, raking in an audience of more than six million for some episodes and breaking records to become the BBC's biggest entertainment show in two years.

On top of the allowance and any show winnings, popular contestants can expect to make a fair bit of cash through various advertising deals.

Supermarket chain Lidl is already lining up fan-declared icon Diane for a massive brand deal following her time on the show.

While cast members aren't paid an appearance fee, they are given a daily allowance to offset lost earnings.

Halfway through the show, ar Di was killed in plain sight when she drank fizzy rosé from a 'poisoned' chalice, resulting in a funeral march that saw her son and fellow contestant, Ross, morbidly forced to place a white rose in his mum's coffin.

Referencing the iconic killing, Lidl reached out to Ross on X, sharing a snap of her face poking out from behind a bottle of wine and writing: "Hey, reckon your mum would be up for a cheeky collab?"

Applications to be on season three of The Traitors are open until 11 February 2024.
