If you asked the one thing Harlan Coben Netflix dramas are known for you would get a pretty unanimous response: bonkers plot twist that may need a rewatch to understand and the show’s being bizarrely set in the UK.
Whilst the second aspect of this tried formula has changed for I Will Find You, being the first Netflix Harlan Coben drama to be set in the US, the show still has the customary Coben plot twist.
It is clearly working on most fans however, with reviews for the series from viewers being overwhelmingly positive across the board. Whilst the Rotten Tomatoes score of 62% from critics is a bit on the low side, this is a massive step up on Netflix’s last few major Harlan Coben outings, with Missing You sitting at 50%.
Though the show’s central plot twist is shocking though, fans have noticed that it has a glaring plot hole which blows the TV show's twist wide open.

I Will Find You follows Sam Worthington as David, a man who was convicted of murdering his son despite claiming that he is innocent. David receives new evidence that suggests his son, Matthew, is actually alive, leading him to break out of prison and begin searching for him with the help of his former sister-in-law Rachel.
The twist reveals that Matthew is indeed alive and David was framed of the murder by Rachel’s ex-boyfriend Hayden.
Hayden was convinced (for a shenanigans-filled reason that is best explained by watching the show) that Matthew is actually his child, so kidnaps him and raises him as his own son, Theo.
David eventually figures this out and is finally reunited with his son after five years.

One fan on Reddit however pointed out that there is a glaring plot hole in this reveal.
Responding to a Reddit thread praising the show, one comment said: “I didn’t hate it. But of all the plot holes, I haven’t seen people mention the son just waking up after being kidnapped and he’s just fine? Like wouldn’t a toddler be very upset to wake up in a strange place with people he doesn’t know.”
Another fan responded to this, saying: “This was the biggest plot hole for me. I distinctly remember my house when I was three.

“We moved that year, but I could still give you a highly detailed tour of it down to the wallpaper. I absolutely would remember my mom, dad, and name.”
Whilst this is handwaved away in the series by stating he doesn’t remember life before three, it is a pretty glaring plot-hole that a three-year-old would be kidnapped and given a different name and would simply go along with it.
Ben Travers of IndieWire said of the series in their C- grading of the show: “I Will Find You is the most ludicrous show of the year so far, starting with a simple premise and then piling on impossibilities at such a dizzying rate, you can’t help but admire the courage required to convey them all with a straight face.”
I Will Find You is available to stream on Netflix now.
