Addictive murder mystery thriller starring Fool Me Once's Richard Armitage is coming to ITV this month

ITV's new six part series follows three women are thrown into the same life threatening conspiracy

Calling all binge-watchers - it's time to get ready for an 'addictive' new murder mystery series starring Fool Me Once's Richard Armitage.

The upcoming six-parter stars the likes of Jing Lusi, Richard Armitage, Lesley Sharp and Jemma Moore.

Dubbed as the 'collision of three worlds', the Kieron Hawkes-led series follows three women - DC Hana Li (Lusi), journalist Jess Li (Moore) and MI5’s Madeline Delaney (Sharp) - who are all thrown into the same life threatening conspiracy.

In the show, British doctor Matthew Nolan (Armitage) gets arrested for murder when flying home to London from Beijing, where he got frighteningly close to dying in a car crash.

His world is then flipped upside down when a dead woman has been discovered in his crashed car as Nolan returns to China to face charges, despite protests that he was driving alone.

Titled Red Eye, the series is expected to drop later this April on ITVX.

In an interview with ITV, Armitage opened up about his role, explaining: "One of the things that I loved when I read the first episode is that by default, a doctor who has, perhaps taken, or has definitely taken the Hippocratic oath to do no harm, we should be trusting him from the get go.

"The fact that he comes into the story with doubt in his own mind, because he doesn't really remember what happened on that night, so he can't be 100% sure.

"He's already kind of in a state of flux within himself.

"Throughout the course of the story, we sort of ebb and flow between being absolutely convinced of his innocence and really doubting who he is, and whether he's, you know, whether he's a spy or or some kind of mule.

"It was really interesting to sort of play around with and, at points, I didn't really know whether he was telling the truth."

The actor also said that it was 'terrifying' to act out the airport scene in public.

"It's both thrilling and terrifying at the same time, because you don't get many chances." he said.

"You probably get maybe two takes before people start to realise that you're filming. And these days, they want to be in it and interrupt you.

"So you sort of have to rehearse you have to know what you're doing.

"But without, you know, knowing what's going to happen and my heart was thumping through my chest.

"And when I went back into to do ADR on it, because we had to correct some of the speech, I went through this recall of that kind of terrifying experience."
