JonBenét Ramsey’s dad has hit out at the upcoming Netflix show about his daughter’s death.
The upcoming six-parter, titled The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey, is set to land on Netflix on 10 December and stars Melissa McCarthy as Patsy Ramsey and Clive Owen as John Ramsey.
The show centres on the real-life case of six-year-old JonBenét, who was found dead in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, on Boxing Day 1996.
The little girl’s body was discovered near a ransom note that demanded $118,000 for her return, seemingly pointing towards a kidnapping gone wrong.

However, despite a high-profile investigation, the killer has never been found and the case remains unsolved to this day.
JonBenét’s dad John has now broken his silence about the upcoming drama mini-series and claims the creators never reached out to him and his family.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “They never approached or consulted us.
“I suppose it will have a fictional element to it for sure.
“I was aware the production was taking place some time ago under the Paramount umbrella.
“After completion, Paramount chose not to air it for an unknown reason and decided to sell it to someone. I’m not surprised it surfaced.”
John said he believed the show was based upon the book JonBenét: Inside the Ramsey Murder Investigation, which was written by former Boulder Police Department detective Steve Thomas.
“I did hear the original production bought the rights to the book written by Steve Thomas,” Ramsey said.
John and Patsy, who passed away in 2006, filed a lawsuit against Thomas and the book’s publisher over claims he made in the book.
The couple eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed fee.
John accused Thomas of being a ‘reckless investigator’ and told The Sun he ‘relied on his opinion rather than the evidence to assign guilt’.
John also claimed that he asked to view the new show ahead of it airing later this year but was told no.

He said: “Well, we will see what they have put together. We asked to see it before it aired, but that request was denied.”
John’s claims come after star McCarthy shared her thoughts on the case.
In an interview with Variety, she said: “Just my personal feeling. My heart says no one in the family could have done that,” she said.
“I don’t have the ability, or probably the right, to say that, but that’s what my gut says. Which I probably am not supposed to say.
“But shooting [the new show], I had to pick. I had to have that for myself, if nothing else.”
McCarthy came to her conclusion after diligently reading ‘every police report’ and ‘every coroner's report’ about the case.
She also opened up about how it felt to play Patsy.
“This might sound nuts: I’m very fond of Patsy,” she continued.
“I have so much compassion for them, what they went through, and go through currently.”
