Macaulay Culkin has returned to acting in his first major role in years, showing up in the new trailer for Prime Video’s second season of the Fallout adaptation.
Culkin, who is still best known for his role as Kevin McCallister in the first two Home Alone films, is set to appear in the second season of the hit show, with its first outing met with a hugely positive response.
Many will wonder why Culkin left behind the life of a celebrity at such a young age, only recently beginning to appear in major projects again after almost 25 years out of the spotlight.
Culkin appeared in 2021’s season ten of American Horror Story, and is also set to appear in Zootopia 2, but Fallout will undoubtably mark his biggest TV role since he quit acting at 14.

Fallout fans are theorising he's set to play a major character from the games.
Why did Macaulay Culkin quit acting at 14?

Culkin has spoken about how his hectic life as a child star played a major role in quitting acting at the age of 14.
Following on from the success of Home Alone, Culkin became a household name, also going on to star in Richie Rich, The Good Son, and the Michael Jackson music video for 'Black or White'.
After the age of 14 though he would go years only making small cameo appearances and occasional voice roles.
Speaking about the decision to quit acting on the Sibling Revelry podcast, he said: “I was tired… I remember talking to my father and I said, ‘I’m getting tired. I think I need a break’.”
Culkin also revealed that his father’s pushing had left him ‘feeling trapped’, adding that until his parents split up, he didn’t feel he could quit acting.
The Home Alone star has not spoken to his dad in 30 years, calling him the ‘worst person I’ve ever known’ and saw him remove his parents' names from his trust fund at just 15.
Culkin’s appearance in the Fallout season two trailer
Culkin looks set to star in season two of Fallout as a member of the Legion, a villainous faction from the games centred around the Roman Empire.
The Legion are powered by slaves and authoritarianism, and their introduction in season two of the show is a major addition for fans of the games.
Most fans however are simply thrilled to see Culkin back seemingly enjoying acting again, with one comment on X saying: “Honestly? He fits the Fallout vibe perfectly that mix of nostalgia, chaos, and ‘I’ve seen things’ energy.”

Another comment said: “Genuinely one of the most unexpected castings in the series. Can't wait to see what his role will be in the season.”
Many fans however are already trading fan theories suggesting that he will be the leader of the Legion, Caesar, thought this is yet to be confirmed.
Fallout season two releases on Prime Video 17 December.
