Marvel fans left sick as Daredevil features the ‘most gruesome death in MCU ever’

The death scene is gruesome

Marvel fans will be feeling bittersweet this week as Daredevil: Born Again comes to a close with the finale of the reboot’s first season.

Whilst many will be sad to see the weekly return of Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal and co, the episodes have been widely praised as being far better than a reboot seven years on has any right to be.

One particular aspect fans have been praising is that, rather than being a toned down version of the beloved Netflix show, Daredevil: Born Again has actually been featuring some of the most gnarly and brutal displays of violence in the MCU.

One particular scene from the finale, which aired last night, has been called the most gruesome death in Marvel, and it is absolutely brutal.

Spoilers lie ahead for Daredevil: Born Again – as well as a gore warning.

The gruesome death unsurprisingly came at the hands of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, who rips apart the head of Commissioner Gallo, the police chief who has been opposing Fisk all season long.

One fan tweeted: “THIS LEVEL OF GORE IN THE MCU IS F*CKING INSANE??? They weren't kidding when they said this is the furtest Fisk has gone, my jaw is on the floor rn (just like the comissioner)”.

Another said: “That may be the most gruesome death on a marvel show ever…..like what the actual f*ck.”

A third replied to a video of the kill saying: “This was brutal as f*ck. I didn't expect they would go this hard.”

One fan even felt that it went too far, saying: “I’m sorry I loved this episode but this was way too much. Left me sick the entire episode. He went from being a comic book villain to i don’t even know what. Since when did Daredevil become The Boys.”

Whilst you have to feel for this poor comic-book fan suddenly hit with a man’s faced being ripped in half, you cannot help but be pleased that Marvel have finally followed through on their promise to deliver a violent successor to the Netflix show.

The show has been willing to test the water’s with controversial moments, with beloved character Foggy dying in the first episode.

They have followed this up with several hyperviolent moments, such as Cox’s Matt Murdock jumping and breaking a bank-robber’s leg in half.

Brutality is something Marvel Studios have promised from their Disney+ shows since Moon Knight, with Kevin Feige saying that it would allow heroes to be ‘unleashed.'

D’Onofrio spoke earlier in the season about the kill, saying: “There's one thing in particular that my character does that I can't believe made it into the cut."

In the end it made the cut, and it's fair to say it has been a hit with (most) fans.

Daredevil: Born Again is available to watch on Disney+ now.
