The original cast of Sons of Anarchy are getting back together for a new limited series.
Only the spin-off of the popular crime drama, which ran from 2008 to 2014, has a bit of a bonkers twist.
Rather than reprising their characters or playing, well, brand new characters, the cast will instead be playing fictionalised versions of themselves.
Yep, Charlie Hunnam (who played Jax Tellar) himself is developing and executive producing the series, Legends is about the cast of Sons of Anarchy.

Essentially it says it ‘blurs’ the ‘line between life and art’.
It’s fair to say fans on social media are pretty baffled by the new spin-off, with mixed responses to the announcement yesterday (19 August).
“I think this idea lowkey sucks… but it is way better than ruining the perfect ending. so at least they got it right,” one wrote.

So, of course, while the latter years of Sons of Anarchy may not have been quite as popular, the show following the outlaw motorcycle club had a solid fan base.
And it seems the ‘meta thriller’ Legends somewhat plays into this.
The official description reads: “When the cast of Sons of Anarchy reunites at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show.”
Hunnam developed the spin-off along with Jonathan Groff, who executive produce it with Rob Mac, Nicholas Frenkel and Jackie Cohn.
You’ll notice that the Sons of Anarchy creator, Kurt Sutter, is not involved with Legends and he has confirmed his distance.
Taking to Instagram, he said in a video: “I’m not involved with Legends at all, nor should I be.
“It has nothing to do with the characters I created or the mythology. It is really about the show and the legacy of the show, and quite frankly, there are thousands of people who are responsible for that legacy.”

Stutter did confirm that Hunnam came to him about the project ‘early on’ to ask for his blessing.
“I gave Charlie my full blessing,” Sutter said. “I wish nothing but the best for him in this project. My wife is in the project.”
His wife Katey Sagal of course played Gemma Teller Morrow in Sons of Anarchy (with Sutter also appearing as Otto Delaney).
Alongside her, Ron Perlman, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates and Theo Rossi are all returning for Legends. And additional cast are set to be announced.
On X, one user pointed out: “So the series Legends is basically Sons of Anarchy meets Galaxy Quest in a way.”
And I mean, it’s a pretty fair comparison to make – Galaxy Quest is a 1999 comedy film that follows the fictional cast of a TV series that end up drawn into conflict with aliens.
Some users were a little confused by the news with ‘half the characters’ dead from the original series but ‘just so happy’ that Hunnam will be back.
Another wrote: “Honestly they could do this with so many shows. It’s weird but I'm onboard.”
While others simply put: “…What?”
