South Park trolls Trump with brutal new name change after Emmy win

South Park has aimed a trolling dig at the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and it's far from the first time.

Following South Park's Emmy triumph on Sunday, September 6, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have used the win to poke fun at Trump.

The official South Park X account shared on Tuesday that the pair had made a big change to the series in celebration of their victory.

The account posted: "Following their Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program, South Park is making a big change. Creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone announce:

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount -- a Skydance Capitulation.”

Trump has sparked backlash by changing the name of Lake Ontario

The dig from South Park comes in the wake of Apple Maps changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America for users in the US following Trump's executive order to change the lake's name amid a spat with neighbours Canada.

Trade talks between the two nations collapsed in August, with both sides issuing tit-for-tat tariffs against one another.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to the change by saying: "We know that the United States is changing.

"Their trade relations, their foreign policy, their national monuments, their hydronyms.

"Canadian women and men also know that things must be called by their name, and this lake is called Lake Ontario - today and forever."

Trump had made a habit of demanding name changes of locations and geographical landmarks.

Soon after returning to the White House, he signed a similar order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

On Monday, Trump posted a map to Truth Social that rebranded the state New Mexico to New America.

He has even suggested renaming the Straight of Hormuz as the Trump Strait.

The post from South Park ended by plugging that the show's 29th season will premiere on Wednesday, September 16.

The long-running comedy claimed its fifth Emmy win for Best Animated Show on Sunday, September 6, and didn't hesitate on using the victory to mock Trump, telling him he's finally won the award he always wanted.

Trump has complained about not winning an Emmy in the past

The Emmy win, the first since 2013 for the show, came after a season in which Trump's real face was used and he was repeatedly mocked.

A social media post celebrating the win showed the South Park version of Trump, with his trousers around his ankles, clinching the trophy and surrounded by the show's characters.

On the image was written: "You finally got your Emmy."

Trump has previously complained he never won a prize at the prestigious TV awards for his role in the The Apprentice, which he hosted from 2004 to 2015.

“The Emmys were horrendous…the absolute worst show,” Trump wrote on X in 2012. “The Emmys are all politics, that’s why, despite nominations, The Apprentice never won — even though it should have many times over.”

Hillary Clinton brought up the post during a presidential debate in 2016, saying: “There was even a time when he didn't get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row, and he started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged against him.”

Trump responded by saying: “Should have gotten it.”

The Apprentice was nominated for eight Emmys during its 15 seasons without success.
