Sydney Sweeney marked the Euphoria season three finale by sharing some never-before-seen images and a cheeky clap back to critics.

The 28-year-old star, who plays Cassie in the hit HBO show, took to Instagram to share a fresh carousel of photos taken on set.

After last night's episode aired, creator Sam Levinson confirmed that Euphoria was officially over for good, which makes sense given that a major character was killed off.

Levinson confirmed the news on Popcast, The New York Times’ music podcast, having previously revealed that he had 'no plans' for a fourth season.

As yet, Sweeney hasn’t commented on the announcement, but before last night's episode aired she shared a slew of behind-the-scenes photos, including one which to showed how that snake scene was filmed.

Sharing the images, the star appeared to be take a playful swipe at recent controversy surrounding her role, which saw Cassie joining OnlyFans where she dressed up as a dog on a leash, and then sported a rather disturbing infant-inspired get-up,

“It’s called… acting,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the haul of BTS shots.

The recent NSFW scenes have caused a bit of a stir, with some viewers accusing the show of taking things too far in season three.

Even real-life OnlyFans’ creator Sophie Rain stepped in to share her views, branding the storyline ‘over-dramatised' and 'misleading'.

"I think it's pretty cool that they're bringing OnlyFans into the entertainment world, but the way they're doing it is over-dramatised," Rain explained to TMZ.

"We shouldn't be portraying OnlyFans that way... It's very misleading."

Former actor and fellow OnlyFans creator Maitland Ward also shared her thoughts.

"In the climate we’re in, that they dressed her up as a baby to make pornographic OnlyFans content was beyond troubling, Ward told Variety.

"[It] again serves to perpetuate stereotypes that sex workers have no moral compass and that they will do anything for money.

"To take someone so traditionally blonde and beautiful with the biggest boobs and dress her up as a dog and baby is really bizarre, but at the same time so expected in Hollywood."

Levinson has previously defended the risqué scenes.

“[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humour, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it,” Levinson told The Hollywood Reporter.

“What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie into it so that we’re not too inside of her fantasy or illusion — the gag is to jump out, to break the wall.”

Euphoria season three is available on HBO Max now.
