The Boys is only a week away from launching its final ever season, but millions of fans will be left out of the loop with some pretty major plot points heading into season five.
The Eric Kripke superhero TV show has become the biggest in Prime Video’s history with last season racking up over 1 billion minutes of viewership.
Starring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty, season five of the series will bring the story to an end, but this won’t be the end of the overall series of shows.
The Boys started as a parody of superhero TV shows and then has, ironically, spawned a number of spin-off series. The Boys: Mexico, and Vought Rising are still both to release and are unlikely to link too heavily, but their college set spin-off Gen V set up some pretty major plot points for the final season in its second and likely last season.

Here are three major plot points that the millions of fans who watch The Boys, but not Gen V, will have missed going into the final season.
Warning: The rest of this article contains major spoilers for Gen V season two.
Gen V season two saw a villain from The Boys turn on Homelander
Season four of The Boys introduced Sister Sage, the world’s smartest woman, who is enlisted by Homelander to aid his plan in taking over the United States. Season two of Gen V sees Sage working with a superpowered villain Thomas Godolkin, a scientist who developed the concept of compound V alongside Frederick Vought.

Godolkin survived since the 1920s and has the ability to control others, with Sage wanting to use this as part of her plan against Homelander, believing he may be able to control him.
Whilst this fails, with Sage turning on Godolkin and letting him die, it sets up the villain working against Homelander in the background.
The heroes of Gen V join up with characters from The Boys in the finale

Gen V season two ends with the main heroes of the show on the run from Vought.
Jordan, Cate, Emma, Annabeth, Sam, and the show’s main character Marie are all saved at the end of season two by A-Train and Starlight, inviting them to join the revolution against Vought.
Both Jordan and Marie, two of the most powerful heroic supes in the spin-off show, are shown in the season four trailer, but there could be appearances from the other characters who will be aiding Starlight’s revolution against Homelander.
Marie is ‘as powerful as Homelander’, but don’t expect her to play a huge role in the final season

Marie is the main character throughout Gen V displaying powerful feats as a Supe that can control her own blood.
At the end of season one however she displays an ability to use this to control not only her own blood, but that of others, and season two sees her exploring these capabilities.
This is because it is revealed that Homelander and Marie are the only surviving members of a shadowy Vought initiative called Project Odessa.
This involved injecting embryos with Compound V at the blastocyst stage.
Despite this though she isn’t quite at Homelander’s level just yet, and creator Eric Kripke has hinted it isn’t exactly going to be her killing Homelander.
Kripke said that ‘people should be prepared for Gen V kids to not come in and save the season’ in an interview with SFX Magazine.
The Boys season five premieres on Prime Video, 8 April.
