The Boys season five has released its final trailer, setting up a huge conflict between Butcher, Starlight, and Hughie and the Homelander-led Vought.

In the trailer though The Boys' ongoing comparison between Trump and Homelander appears to go from a background theme to a core part of the TV series.

Season five picks up from the season four finale in which Homelander ascends to become the defacto President of the United States.

In the trailer he is shown stood in front of a cross with the American flag in the background, armoured goons are shown rounding people up to be taken into 'Freedom Camps', and it ends with Homelander sat with his feet up in the Oval Office.

Where the show has previously made references between Homelander and Trump in the past, it appears that the series is now becoming far more overt in the lines it draws between the two.

This was picked up on by fans as well, with one simply tweeting: "Blonde man in the White House….. hmm."

Another quoted a picture of Homelander sat in the White House, saying: "What a cool plot line that definitely doesn't reflect real life... RIGHT GUYS?"

The 'Freedom Camps' appear to be direct comparisons to Trump's ongoing increased funding in ICE, with the Immigration Enforcement Agency becoming the highest funding in the United States with a budget of over $85 billion.

Prime Video have not shied away from drawing the lines themselves in the past too, with The Boys on X quoting someone saying that The Boys was no longer satire by adding: "Been a documentary for awhile, mate."

In addition to this the satirical 'Vought International' page, has previously posted tweets mocking the Trump administration's reaction to the Epstein files.

They posted on X: "It’s a shame we need to post this, but the “Herogasm Files” leaked today are doctored and illegitimate. Our Crime Analtics department has confirmed Homelander’s name was inserted by Starlighters via AI. He visited Herogasm ONCE to respond to a crisis situation, NOTHING MORE!"

The show’s final season will see an all-star cast return with new blood being added in the form of former Supernatural star Jared Padalecki, who is joining a returning Jensen Ackles.

Karl Urban, who plays Butcher, has previously hinted that there will be some pretty major deaths in the final season of the series.

Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, he said that the season would 'shock a lot of people', adding: "Nobody is safe."

Two unfamiliar faces in the trailer for season five however will be that of Marie Moreau and Jordan Li, played by Jaz Sinclair and London Thor.

For fans who solely watch The Boys they will have missed out on these major characters who are likely to play a key role in the final season far beyond their brief appearance in the trailer.

This is because they are the stars of Gen V, which linked with The Boys far more heavily in its second season.

Spoilers for Gen V season two

Season two of the University focused The Boys spin-off saw Jordan, Marie, and their friends join up with Starlight and A-Train, 'joining the resistance'.

A major plotline in the series also saw them discover a virus which could potentially take out all supes, something that looks like it will be a major part of season five.
