First Celebrity Traitors teaser confirms huge name won't be taking part

The hit BBC show is set to arrive on our screens very soon

Traitors fans rejoice, we have our first confirmed teaser ahead of the eagerly-anticipated celebrity edition of the hit BBC show.

Ever since the first season hit our screens in 2022, fans have been loving watching along as a group of strangers (most of the time) from across the UK aim to figure out who is a traitor and who is faithful while living together in a luxurious Scottish castle.

While the gameshow is entertaining in itself, we've also had some incredible moments in each of the seasons, whether it be Harry's masterclass as a traitor, Wilfred falling at the last hurdle or my personal favourite - Diane revealing that she's Ross's mum.

The show, which sees the traitors scheme to 'murder' other contestants at night, while a round table discussion sees others banished from the castle, has shown off some of the best and worst of the UK at times, as we've seen some truly incredible people take part (shout out Alexander and Fozia, we miss you).

So, there was something of a mixed reaction when it was first announced by the BBC that we would have a celebrity version, but given some of the great names on the list of those taking part, and the fact we'd have to wait until Christmas for another regular season, the excitement is well and truly building now.

The full lineup of celebrities taking part was leaked last month, but many people were left asking whether or not UK comedian and all-round legend Bob Mortimer would be taking part, as there were differing accounts on whether or not he'd been lined up as a contestant.

Given that he's consistently managed to stump David Mitchell on Would I Lie To You over the years, he no doubt would have been a fantastic addition to the show.

But it seems that he sadly won't be in the show, which was later confirmed by his missing picture in the newest teaser trailer, which you can see here:

Personally, I cannot wait to see Joe Wilkinson and Alan Carr's different brands of comedy clash around the round table, while Stephen Fry would surely be a cracking traitor - if only for his power to sooth us all with his voice.

Host Claudia Winkleman said (via the BBC): “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.”

The nine-part celebrity version will see contestants compete to win £100k for a charity of their choice, and is coming to BBC One and iPlayer this Autumn.
