This Morning booed by NTAs audience as cast is shown live on TV

'Right, deep breath. Firstly, are you OK? I hope so'

The cast of This Morning got quite the reaction when they were introduced at the National Television Awards last night.

The biggest names from the small screen gathered at the O2 Arena in London for the glitzy do, battling it out to see who is the best in the biz.

But while Ant and Dec walked away once again, for what seems like the 50th year on the trot, with the award for Best Presenters, not everyone had such a good night.

Not only did This Morning presenter Alison Hammond go home empty handed - having been beaten to the post by the Geordie duo - but the entire cast got roundly booed by the audience.

Yep, during the event, host Joel Dommett picked out the team, who were sat near the front, to say hello.

However, when the camera panned to Alison, Dermot, and Holly, the crowd went crazy and not in a good way.

This Morning did not get the best reaction.

As the boos rained down, Dermot awkwardly grabbed for his bag of sweets, while Holly smiled nervously.

And the lack of gongs for the show wasn't exactly a surprise to those watching back home.

Taking to Twitter, there were plenty who felt the scandal involving Phillip Schofield had probably scuppered the show's chances.

One viewer said: "This Morning lost the NTAs. I wonder why, though."

Another quipped: "First of all…are you okay??? I hope so. #NTAs #thismorning."

"Judging by the comments, I think an overwhelming majority of the nation are delighted @thismorning

didn’t win," put a third. "Not even @TheRepairShop (congratulations) can repair it. #NTAs #ThisMorning."

While someone else added: "At least the #NTAs were entertaining, in a funny way. Some good winners who I were happy with and then some I was surprised by.

"Best part of the night for me was when This Morning didn't win."

The This Morning crew weren't alone, however, Piers Morgan also got some grief off the audience. So they were obviously in good company.

As mentioned earlier, though, two lads who did have a good night were Ant and his little mate Dec.

The presenting duo are a fan favourite at the NTA awards, and various winners throughout the night made reference to their impressive winning streak.

From Graham Norton to the cast of Channel 4's Gogglebox, Ant & Dec got special mention in their speeches, with Norton claiming the only reason he won 'Best Talk Show' is because Ant & Dec 'didn't have one'.

Well done, lads.
