Brits are being urged to watch a 'gut-wrenching' BBC drama starring Stephen Graham and Sean Bean.

The show follows Mark Cobden (played by Bean) who tragically kills someone after he drink drives home.

The series follows Mark's time in prison, documenting his struggles as he is targeted by 'one of the most dangerous inmates'.

Quickly, Mark - a former teacher - has to learn to defend himself and confront the bullying.

Meanwhile, prison guard Eric McNally (played by Stephen Graham), faces a choice between his principles and his family when he is blackmailed by an inmate.

The series was heavily praised by viewers and it has a 96 percent average on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and an 89 percent average audience score.

Pretty impressive!

Time is available over on BBC iPlayer where you can watch both the first and second season in full.

If you manage to watch the first season, the second is equally as gripping and stars Bella Ramsay, Jodie Whittaker and Tamara Lawrance.

The show’s synopsis reads: "Told through the lens of three very different inmates, Time is a moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women's prison.

"Arriving at Carlingford Prison on the same day, Orla, Abi and Kelsey are thrown together to face an unfamiliar world.

"But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, still might be possible."

Ramsay plays Kelsey, who is struggling with a drug addiction, while Whittaker plays mum Orla, who has been put behind bars for fiddling her electricity meter.

Meanwhile, Lawrance portrays Abi who has a life sentence for murder.

After watching both seasons, people have been left gripped by the show, with viewers calling it 'gut-wrenching'.

One person wrote on X: "Wow the second Time series is just as emotive, powerful and thought provoking as the first. Such a moving series from BBC."

While another said: "Just finished Time on the BBC - wow that’s a strong series."

And a third added: "Time on BBC iPlayer is superb! Particularly gripped by the latest season with Jodie Whittaker! Very interesting to see the contrast compared to series 1 with Sean Bean."
