Woman breaks down in tears after asking boyfriend for an open relationship backfires

Will anyone actually benefit from this show, I wonder?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for series three, episode seven of Open House: The Great Sex Experiment

Open House: The Great Sex Experiment returns to our screens tonight, with audiences seemingly hooked on the Channel 4 reality show.

In case you haven't watched it, the show challenges couples from across the UK to explore polyamory in front of the whole world, which saw one poor lad throw up last week after learning that his girlfriend was about to sleep with another man.

Channel 4 have really been knocking it out of the park when it comes to shocking sex shows on TV, with Virgin Island also proving incredibly popular in recent months, but the latest episodes of Open House have (perhaps unsurprisingly) seen far more action between the sheets.

It might seem a foreign idea to many, and it certainly does to me, but most of these couples are hoping to just enhance their lives according to a relationship expert, but there's certainly an adjustment period for many of the couples on the show before things work out the way they planned.

Unfortunately for one young woman on tonight's show, her fantasy of having an open relationship with her husband looks to have backfired, as she broke down in tears when it all became a bit too much.

Essex girl Sharmayne, 26, joined the show with her husband Jamie, 29 and as they attend a sexy soiree with other couples, the idea of sharing each other physically and intimately seemingly caused Sharmayne a bit of stress.

She tells him: "I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed."

To which he responds: "Do you want to take a little break?"

The married couple then head outside for some fresh air, but that prompts Sharmayne to immediately break down in tears.

She says: "I just feel overwhelmed. It's just a bit much for me, the whole situation."

Jamie reassures her: "We're not obligated to do anything. This is our journey."

But Sharmayne continues: "I'm just uncomfortable."

Their future on the show is then left hanging in the balance as Jamie asks her: "Where do we go from here?"

If it wasn't already surprising enough that Channel 4 are even allowed to show some of the graphic sex scenes in the show, there's also seemingly a lot of emotional challenges, as previous episodes saw childhood sweethearts swap sexual partners, while one woman became frustrated with her boyfriend after he had an orgy with six other women.

Open House: The Great Sex Experiment airs on Friday on Channel 4 at 10pm.
