Wednesday executive producer reveals they're already thinking of doing a second season

Miles Millar reckons they've only 'touched the surface with those characters'.

One of the executive producers behind Netflix's smash-hit series Wednesday has teased they're already thinking about doing a second season.

There's no denying the new show around Wednesday Addams, of The Addams Family fame, is taking the world by storm.

The official synopsis from Netflix says: "The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

"Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."

The dark fun is spread out over eight episodes and naturally people have been calling for many more seasons to come.

Wednesday co-showrunner Miles Millar has revealed that could certainly be on the cards.

He admits the show focused a lot on Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega) and they would love to see what else can be fleshed out if they go a little deeper into the family lore.

“We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles,” Millar explained to TV Line.

Ortega is joined on screen by Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays chic matriarch Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán portrays the legendary Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez has been cast as Pugsley Addams, and Fred Armisen is Uncle Fester.

Millar said these actors have brilliantly rebooted the classic characters and it would be interesting to see where they could go.

“Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia," he said to TV Line.

"The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

He added: [I] definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season."

Netflix hasn't announced any plans for a second season of the series....yet.

However, considering how people around the world are lapping up the content, it would be a surprise if they didn't commission another instalment.

Then again, there have been stranger things happen at the streaming giant before.

So, if you enjoyed the first season of Wednesday then make enough noise about it on social media and the bigwigs at Netflix will see your cries for more Addams family goodness.

Judging from what Miles Millar said, there could be some absolutely juicy episodes in the pipeline in the future.
