Woman’s answer on Tipping Point is being called the greatest response to a question on daytime TV

Woman’s answer on Tipping Point is being called the greatest response to a question on daytime TV

Ben Shephard was barely able to keep a straight face

There's nothing quite like sitting in comfort at home, shouting at the TV while people are quizzed on their general knowledge.

Let's be honest, we all like to think we'd smash it if we were put on the spot.

But one woman's answer to a question on Tipping Point has been doing the rounds on social media, and it's pretty hilarious.

Host Ben Shepherd posed a question to two contestants, who had to answer correctly in order to increase the cash amount they could potentially go home with.

A contestant on Tipping Point was asked to guess the name for a collective noun for moles.

The question was 'Which UK political party shares its name with a collective noun for moles?'.

Admittedly, it's not something you would know of the top of your head, right?

But one would think you would eliminate the answers that are blatantly wrong and go from there.

Anyway, the first contestant didn't fancy her chances at answering the question and passed it over to her competitor, Alice.

Ben Shephard had to keep a straight face when he heard the contestant's answer.

Left with no chance but to hazard a guess, Alice said: "For some reason, Liberal Democrats is shouting out to me."

Ben, who has no doubt heard some bizarre answers in his time, could barely keep it together as he forced himself to conceal a grin.

Alice continued: "I'm not sure why...I think I'm going to go with Liberal Democrats."

Needless to say, Alice shouldn't have trusted her instincts on this one.

For anybody keeping score at home, the answer was Labour.

To be fair, I've never heard somebody use the word 'UKIP' or 'Scottish National Party' when talking about nature, have you?

It would sound really weird coming out of David Attenborough's mouth...

Alice's blunder may have her cost her points on the show, but it provided entertainment for many watching at home - and lives on in social media infamy.

The account Best For Britain tweeted out the clip with the caption 'Here's a little throwback to the greatest response to a question on daytime TV.'

Twitter users wasted no time in mocking her answer.

One person tweeted: "Hmmm making a bit of a mountain out of a Liberal Democratic hill there," while another quipped: "And we wonder why we voted Brexit..."

Another Twitter user remarked: "Liberal Democrats made a right mess of my garden!"

Well, the Brits may not be renowned for their intellect, but our sense of humour remains unmatched.
