People have been left extremely concerned after seeing footage of a YouTube streamer who decided to lock himself in a pitch black room for an entire month.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the weird and wonderful world of the streamer.

For those unaccustomed to the live-streaming industry, it's typically where young content creators rake in the money via broadcasting themselves online.

The practice started with people filming themselves while playing games, but has since snowballed into people crashing supercars, losing hundreds of thousands after making bets on the US election and attempting other eye-rolling stunts.

One of those individuals is Australian streamer Norme, who is currently broadcasting himself 24/7 in a dark room.

For you and I, locking ourselves in a dark room and spending the entire month alone there sounds like torture, but for the 19-year-old streamer this was an opportunity to break a world record.

And also, you know, make content.

Surprisingly, the streamer's 1.2 million subscribers have dutifully tuned in everyday to see how his challenge is going - and it would appear the teenager's behaviour is starting to cause concern.

Norme began the challenge on 16 October, which means he is just over a week away from spending a month in the dark - and it would seem the decision is finally getting to him.

In a particularly concerning clip shared across social media, he can be seen rocking back and forth while taking bites out of what appears to be a door.

Watch the creepy clip below:

Now Norme is either one hell of a good actor or spending close to a month in solitary confinement has caused him to crack. Either way, the streamer's followers are growing increasingly worried for him.

"22 days they should be beyond worried," one person replied to the clip, while a second said: "Please tell me, bro it’s not eating the door."

"Not smart to play around with this. Solitary is maddening," a third added.

However, not everyone was convinced by his behaviour, with others calling the teenager out for over-exaggerating.

"He's just attention seeking. I've done months in real solitary and it's not that bad," one unimpressed viewer replied.

Anyone familiar with the bizarre lives of streamers will know this isn't the first time Norme has attempted to push his body to the limit either, as he previously went viral for trying to break the Guinness World Record for how long someone could stay awake. A challenge which ended with a welfare check from the police.

Working a 9-5 never sounded more appealing.
