For most of us, the biggest risk we’ll take at work is deciding whether to send that sassy email, or ditching the packed lunch and breaking the bank on take-out. But, for the average guest on The Team Ignition Show, the risks they take at work are truly life or death.

If you don’t already know, The Team Ignition Show is an action-adventure podcast and content series that takes a rare look behind the scenes of the world’s most exceptional risk takers. From a double barrel roll in a stunt plane, to a gravity-defying motocross maneuver, The Team Ignition Show travels across Australia, Europe and North America, capturing unbelievable moments and diving deep into the minds of athletes who are truly willing to put it all on the line in the pursuit of their passion.

Hosted by renowned X Games broadcaster and action-sports icon Selema Masekela, The Team Ignition Show is officially back for a new season following its debut last year, kicking off with one of the most respected and decorated freestyle motocross riders of all time, Jarryd McNeil.

“Basically, we’re like gymnasts on motorcycles,” McNeil tells Masekela of the sport, “and, with freestyle, things can go really bad really quickly.”

In fact, things can be so bad, McNeil says it’s a sport that has no half measures.

“You ain’t stopping. You ain’t turning around. You ain’t going back to your wheels. It’s either you’ve luckily walked away… or you’re in hospital.”

Elsewhere in the episode, McNeil speaks about how fatherhood has led him to approach the sport with more caution, the key difference between freestyle motocross and motocross riders and, of course, how the community has enriched not just his work, but his entire life.

“We are some of the best breed of humans on planet Earth,” McNeil says of his fellow freestyle motocross athletes.

“We’re just outgoing people. We just thrive on adrenaline. We know what living is.”

If you'd like to learn more about what it takes to be at the top of your game in a sport with no bail-out option, like freestyle motocross, then you can watch the full episode of Jarryd McNeil: Rural Australia to X Games Glory | Team Ignition Show 🔥on YouTube, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
