Zara Larsson slammed for wearing artwork of metal act led by right wing murderer

The singer was called out for her 'offensive' outfit

Zara Larsson has been slammed for wearing a dress which had the name of a controverrsial metal band written on it.

The singer recently took to TikTok, where she showed off a new outfit for the P3 Guld awards in Gothenburg. Here it is:

However, some eagle-eyed users spotted that the dress featured artwork from one of Norwegian band Burzum's albums.

Burzum was a one-man black metal band, headed up by far-right murderer Varg Vikernes.

Vikernes - real name Louis Cachet - started the project in the early 90s, and was later convicted of murder after he stabbed former bandmate, Øystein Aarseth, to death.

In May 1994, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison for first-degree murder, church arson and possession of explosives.

Following his release in 2009, Vikernes carried on with the Burzum project, releasing three more albums in 2010, 2011, and 2013.

He is also openly anti-Semitic and was convicted of inciting hatred by a French court in 2014.

Many consider him as having been a key player in the neo-Nazi movement over the past three decades.

As a result, fans of Larsson were shocked to see her sporting clothing branded with one of his albums.

One user asked: "So.... is it okay for popfans that their Icon Zara dresses in Cover Artwork from the NSBM Band Burzum."

Writing on Reddit, another commented: “Honestly, this s**t is why people shouldn’t wear band shirts of s**t they don’t support.

"Like I get it if a teenager does it, but a grown a*** adult should recognise them as advertisements."

"While I don’t think she wore it with malice that doesn’t mean the dress, band, and Varg shouldn’t be criticized," put a third.

Someone else quipped: "Zara Larsson gets s**t for her Burzum outfit but I get that it's hard to tell when his status as a fashion icon overshadows his neo-Nazism."

Following the backlash, Larsson apologised for any misunderstanding.

She said that she wasn't aware of the album and the controversy, and assured people that she didn't buy it from Vikernes.

“Oopsie, had no idea,” she said. “I just thought my clothes looked cool. It was unfortunate.

"To clarify, I wasn't wearing their merch, I was wearing [a dress made by Belgian fashion designer] Raf Simons."

Despite the criticism she's come in for, however, Larsson has not removed the video from her TikTok account.
