LAD Tries Out Skating And Dating At Lovebox Festival

We sent Josh to find that special someone.

It's tricky to find love out there these days, isn't it? Tinder is a minefield, dating sites are impossible, and as for finding people out there in the real world - does that even happen anymore?

Well, yeah, actually it does. And there's nothing that gets the romantic juices flowing quite like eight wheels and two bruised arse cheeks - we're talking, of course, about roller disco.

Friday marked the first day of Lovebox Festival in Victoria Park, London, and as well as whole host of great music and entertainment, revellers were treated to Kia's Skate and Date tent. In layman terms, that means a massive marquee where romantically challenged festival-goers can get their skates on in the name of love.

We were on the ground to experience it first hand, and when we say 'we', we actually mean our man Josh, who valiantly strapped a load of wheels to his feet and diced with death in the hope of finding that special someone....

By his own admission, Josh had been unlucky in love in the past, but he'd heard that Lovebox was the perfect place to find something special and so decided to get his skates on.

In the tent, potential partners were treated to a DJ set and plenty of room to bust wild moves, or just simply fall over (Josh's possible love interest went for the latter, much to both of their amusement). Alas, the merriment was short-lived, and while our man thought the skating experience went pretty well, his date was less convinced.

Not one to be easily defeated, Josh decided to make a swift exit from the disco and explore the rest of the festival, confident that he'd be able to find love by the end of the day - he still managed to find time for a swift nap in the hammock. Rude not to.

Suitably rested, Josh busted out the love specs and got to work. They might not have improved his luck with the ladies, but they did make him sick at mini golf and helped him to get expert advice from some female festival-goers.

"Funny, not cringey, and confident, not cocky," said one - turns out that's all people are looking for in a potential partner. Can't be that hard, right? Wrong.

In a last-ditch effort to find a festival romance, Josh took to the Tornado, a fair ground ride that shouldn't be used by people with heart issues, but they still let him on with his broken heart anyway.

So, he might have been unlucky in love this time, but there's always next year, ey?
