Controversial.

Frank Lampard appears to be channelling his inner Steven Gerrard for his latest Instagram post, which has ignited the controversial touch paper once more.

Last month, Gerrard posted, similarly on Instagram, a photo of his three daughters, 13-year-old Lilly Ella, 10-year-old Lexi and Lourdes, five, with their newborn baby brother, Lio.

The Liverpool legend put the caption: "Looks like his ironing and washing is sorted when he gets older then."

Those words caused his followers to go into overdrive on the criticism with comments, including: "Lovely photo, disgusting caption," and "Truly I think it's sad to read a comment tag like that."

Now, Frank, 39, has followed in Gerrard's footsteps with a cheeky post about his wife, TV presenter Christine Bleakley, and their dog.

Although he has since taken down the photo, Lampard showed Christine kissing Minnie the dog with the caption: "My two bitches."

Cue, angry feminists and bandwagon jumpers, who quickly branded the joke as sexist.

One said: "I am triggered by this. It is truth that patriarchy exists."

Another added: "Men shouldn't be allowed to make jokes about women. It's oppressive."

A third complained: "I can't believe he said that. We should organise a protest against WAG jokes."

However, on the flip side, many of his supporters and fans were quick to shoot down the cynics.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder, the highest scoring of all time in the Premier League or his position, later deleted the photo from his account, which has over two million followers.

Neither Frank or Christine have been back on social media since the image was removed to comment on the matter.

It seems the midfield greats of England football are having a tough time for their pictures at the moment.

Alongside Lamps and Stevie G, David Beckham also faced the fickle wrath of the public when he showed himself kissing his daughter, Harper, on the lips.

One critic wrote: "Think it's pretty weird that he kisses her on the lips considering her age," while another contrasted, and said: "It's awful that people see wrong in a father and daughter sharing a kiss."

For now, Frank may be in the dog house, for being such a bitch!
