Every Kindle in the Amazon Prime Day sale after update renders old models useless
In May 2026, Amazon pulled support for Kindles released in 2012 or earlier, leaving many Brits in need of a new device.
In case you missed the announcement, owners of affected devices, including the Kindle 1st Generation (2007) and Kindle DX (2009), can no longer purchase, borrow or download additional books.
For those who reset the factory settings of their old device to sell it, they'll simply not work anymore.
Thankfully, Amazon Prime Day (June 23 to 26, 2026) has landed, and there are plenty of Kindles on offer for a limited time only.

When is Prime Day 2026?
It has been confirmed that Amazon Prime Day 2026 will run from June 23 to 26.
It's the longest sales event to date, making it a four-day shopping event packed with discounts across all categories on the site, from tech and gaming to homeware.
