Prime Day shopper reveals hack to save £360 on iPhone 16 Pro

And it involves a little-known section of the Amazon website

We’ve spotted some incredible deals and savings this week during the four-day Amazon Prime Day shopping event, with discounts and offers on everything from air fryers and TVs to laptops and tablets.

But one savvy Prime Day shopper has found a hack to save literally hundreds of pounds off the latest iPhone Pro, and it’s a lot easier than you might think.

How to save £400 on the new iPhone Pro

If you were to buy the iPhone 16 Pro 1TB directly from Apple - or even from retailers such as John Lewis, Currys and yes, even Amazon - it will set you back in the region of £1,399.

With it being this year’s newest iPhone release, it’s probably not too surprising that it hasn’t gone on sale yet. However, all it takes is a few clicks on the Amazon website to find this somewhat secret section.

Known as Amazon Resale (previously known as Amazon Warehouse) this corner of the site is packed full of pre-owned, returned and open-box items, all of which have been thoroughly inspected, tested, repaired (if necessary) and quality-checked by the team to ensure that they work as you would expect them to.

And simply by buying from this section of the website, instead of the Amazon page that we usually head straight to, you can save some serious money, as one shopper quickly discovered.

They took to Reddit to share that they had “bought an iPhone 16 Pro 1TB from Amazon Warehouse for around £1,031.” That’s a saving of £368!

But how does it all work?

The reason that the products are so cheap on Amazon Resale, compared to the brand new products, can vary.

It might be that the item no longer comes with a branded box, or maybe it was returned by someone or got slightly damaged in the Amazon warehouse itself.

If you're unsure what the exact condition will be like, Amazon does specify whether or not an item falls into each of the four following categories:

  • Used - like new
  • Used - very good
  • Used - good
  • Used - acceptable

The percentage of savings on say a laptop, kitchen appliance or phone will very much depend on which of these categories it falls into.

But whichever one you buy, you will still get the same benefits that you would ordinarily get from buying directly from Amazon, such as Amazon fulfilment and shipping, return rights and customer service.

And while Prime Day ends at midnight tonight (Friday July 8), the Resale section has a couple of Prime member deals too.

You can take an extra 20% off a selection of returned products today only. We spotted money off gaming controllers, cookware, fans and vacuum cleaners, as well as toys, headphones and wireless speakers.

But, as this extra discount ends today, you'll want to act fast so as not to miss out.

Let’s just say, once you discover Amazon Resale, we have a feeling you’ll be making sure to browse that part of the site before paying full price for anything on there ever again.
