Cheaters are now using everyday phone apps to make affairs harder to discover.
Roughly one in five British adults admit to cheating on a partner, according to YouGov polls, while more recent surveys put it as high as 36 percent.
Kerry from Los Angeles, first knew something was wrong when she came across conversations that suddenly disappeared.
“He deleted everything on his phone,” she told the Daily Mail. “But he forgot about his iPad on the nightstand.”
Advert
She found months of conversations about secret late-night meetings and restaurant visits he had not once mentioned.
Kerry also discovered that her partner had been using WhatsApp’s disappearing messages, which automatically deletes conversations after a certain amount of time.
“It had everything… messages, plans, what they were going to do together, pics. I sat there scrolling... It was all planned out, right in front of me. How could I be so dumb?” she added.
What are the ‘affair mode’ apps?

While WhatsApp is great for everyday chats and calls, it also comes with some pretty private features.
Users can make messages disappear automatically after a certain amount of time.
There’s also the option to lock individual chats, keeping certain conversations away from the main inbox and making them harder to spot.
Calculator Pro+
Calculator Pro+ might look like any ordinary calculator sitting on someone’s phone, but there can be more going on behind the screen.
Enter the right PIN and it can open a private area where users can keep photos, messages and other personal content they don’t want sitting somewhere more obvious.
Calculator Vault

Again, Calculator Vault is basically a private hiding place disguised as an everyday calculator app.
To anyone casually looking through a phone, there may be nothing unusual about it, but entering the correct password can open a hidden vault where users can store private photos, videos, files and other personal bits and pieces.
Secret Calculator
Secret Calculator works along the same lines, looking like a normal calculator while offering a hidden area behind the scenes. Once someone enters the password or PIN, they can access private storage for things like photos, videos and other content they would rather keep away from the usual phone apps.
Vault – Hide SMS, Pics & Videos

The name of this app gives you a pretty good idea of what it does.
It gives users somewhere private to keep photos, videos, messages and other personal content.
Instead of leaving everything in the normal places on their phone, they can put certain things behind a password or another security lock.
Private Message Box
You're sensing a trend here - Private Message Box gives users a separate place for conversations they don’t want sitting in their regular message inbox.
It’s basically another private space for keeping certain chats less obvious.
That means someone having a quick look through the phone’s normal messages might not immediately come across those conversations at all.
Messages Calculator+ (PSB)
Messages Calculator+ is another app that uses a calculator-style appearance to make its other features less obvious.
