Man who didn't eat for a week explained 'god mode' feeling that changed everything

Justin Dorff revealed how his seven day fast brought him to 'god mode' and reset his body after feeling low for two months

A man who ate nothing for a whole week explained the moment he shifted to ‘god mode’.

Fasting diets have been around for so long, and they’ve often been associated with improved health.

It involves putting your body through a metabolic state called ketosis - when your body uses fat as energy instead of glucose.

After ketosis, there’s one other phase a long fast can provide, which some studies suggest can improve metabolism and even ‘heal’ cells in the body.

For some, they partake in short fasts like the OMAD (one meal a day) diet, fast for 24 hours, or even days to achieve their health goals.

But Justin Dorff chose to fast for a whole week and did it while only drinking water to stay hydrated.

You may have heard that the body can survive for weeks without food, but without water? You’re asking for a very quick stop to the afterlife if you think your body is doing to cope without the very thing it’s 70 percent made up of.

Anyway, with his large amount of H2O and zero consumed food, Justin, a YouTuber, said he was doing all of this to experience the ‘great reset’ after feeling naff for a few months prior.

In a video, he explained: “For the past two months, I've been feeling tired. I've got nagging injuries. I've got this low-level stress. I crave junk food. I feel kind of sad and not really myself.

“Basically, everything hurts and I'm dying.”

At the start, he weighed 76.2kg, and while the first couple of days were a struggle, he noticed one major shift on day five - something he called ‘god mode’.

“Overnight I went from zombie mode to god mode. God mode is the phase that usually hits somewhere between days four and six,” Justin revealed.

“Your brain switches to running on ketones instead of glucose. Hunger drops and growth hormone and adrenaline skyrocket. And suddenly, you get a huge boost in energy, focus, mental clarity, and mood.”

He shared that this was the 'first time’ during the fast he ‘cared more about how I felt than how I looked’.

“I wasn't white knuckling it through hunger and cravings. I had tons of energy and crushed my workouts,” Justin added.

In the end, he revealed he had ‘made it to the great reset’.

This impacted him positively, and he was able to do the things he struggled with during the previous days.

Justin admitted: “Instead of just trying to survive and distract myself, I was able to focus on what really matters. I spent time with my wife. I caught up with friends. I'm not sorry. I was actually able to enjoy myself and be present in each moment, at least until day seven.

“It was like I was 10 years old again, waking up on Christmas morning. Except instead of presents, I was just excited to chew again. The finish line was so close. I could smell it.”

He shared that by the end, he had ‘made it through hunger, cravings, low energy, high energy; and he proved he could ‘do something hard, that I could be in control of my health, that I could be self-disciplined’.

It goes without saying, but it's advised that you speak with a healthcare professional before making any major changes to your diet.
