A top heart doctor has revealed what he believes to be a 'silent killer' that can be 'most dangerous' to people's health, and has shared exactly how to tackle it.
Surgeon Dr. Jeremy London MD posts regularly on social media site TikTok with health updates and guidance, including advice on foods, sleep cycles and the toxins most dangerous to the human body to his 790,000 followers.
The cardiovascular specialist has also since become a media personality and is known primarily for sharing preventive heart health advice online, with clips regularly receiving tens of thousands of views.
But in a recent video, he shared the one thing that he considers to be among the most dangerous thing for people's health, and it all makes complete sense.

He warned that it is actually complacency that can be a 'silent killer' and described it as a 'scary' place to be in, leading people to miss things like major health concerns and symptoms by not getting them checked out sooner or following up on health appointments.

In the clip he explains: "One of the most dangerous things for your health is complacency. It can truly be a silent killer, and the scary thing is how comfortable this place can be.
"It frequently surfaces as problems that have quietly become normal. It's the medication you've been on for a long time but haven't questioned if it's the right one.
"The lab test that came back abnormal that you were gonna recheck but never did. The symptom that you have quietly accepted that now becomes the norm in your life, a consistent routine that moves you forward and a rut that holds you down can look very much the same from the inside."
But according to Dr London, complacency is affecting people's health in other ways, including by impacting career prospects and personal relationships. He encouraged people to not be scared of change, arguing that staying the same is something we should actually be more fearful of.
Complacency is defined as being in a state of self-satisfaction, further accompanied by an unawareness of dangers and a lack of desire which can stop people from taking control. In this case, Dr London said questioning what can change is the first step to tackling the problem.
"You have to ask yourself honestly, what needs to change? This is true for your health, for your work, for your relationships, for life," he continued to explain.
"Realise that these changes don't have to be some massive pivot. They can be small, incremental changes. Because the underlying force here, many times, is that we're all scared of change. But what we should truly be fearful of is staying the same."
