Married swingers explain ‘really strange’ effect sleeping with other people has on sex life

A 'madly in love' married couple have revealed the benefits that swinging has brought to their own bedroom activity.

Olivia, 32, and Gage, 34, say they have reached 'another level of love or admiration' for one another since they opened up their relationship shortly after getting hitched.

The pair, from Lincoln, even launched a business off the back of their swinging success - an app called SwingHub, which allows people who want to explore ethical non-monogamy to connect with other like-minded folks.

Needless to say, they have come a long way since the idea of swapping spouses was first floated five years into their relationship.

Olivia and Gage explained they got together as teens before getting married in 2012, but began to consider bringing other people into their bedroom after a bit of risqué 'pillow talk'.

"We were talking about if I had experienced ever being with a woman and I said, 'Actually, I have'," Olivia told the Daily Mail. "It was a mind-blowing experience and it happened before I was with Gage."

The topic then turned to swinging, with both of them agreeing they wouldn't mind inviting some other parties to join them for some fun.

Gage, who served in the army for 11 years, then downloaded a swinging app that one of his pals had recommended, and he and Olivia have never looked back.

The couple said they initially intended to meet a single woman who was willing for a ménage à trois, however, they ended up linking up with a couple from their area who were of a similar age instead.

Both Olivia and Gage admitted they were 'nervous' before their first swinging experience, but after letting go of their inhibitions, the pair thoroughly enjoyed partner swapping.

Gage said: "Seeing Olivia with another woman and another guy for the first time - it was a really strange feeling, it's quite a big turn on to see each other with other people."

According to the couple, contrary to popular belief, broadening their horizons sexually really gave their own lust for one another a boost.

On the way home from their first encounter, flight attendant Olivia admitted she asked Gage to 'pull over' so that they 'could reconnect' during their car ride.

They insist that recruiting other players to get frisky is actually a great bonding experience for couples, recalling how they couldn't keep their hands off each other after swinging for the first time.

Gage described this as a 'reconnection period' where there is an 'explosion of love' for your partner, explaining: "That week, I didn't want to go to work, Olivia didn't want to do anything, we just wanted to stay in bed and cuddle and kiss and have sex with one another. We thought, 'Wow, is this actually a thing?' We couldn't wrap our heads around why we felt like this."

Olivia said that although people might presume she's swinging because there must be something missing from her marriage, that couldn't be further from the truth.

She continued: "[People think] we don't love each other, or we want to cheat on each other. There are so many misconceptions but they are all wrong."

The SwingHub founders said they ensure they practice swinging in the safest way possible, regularly getting tested for sexually transmitted infections and using contraception.

"The truth is that we've never caught one STI in the eight years we've done this," Gage said. "It's normal to send other couples certificates of being all clear before we play."

Olivia added that they are 'very picky' about who they bring into the bedroom, explaining it 'has to be right for both' of them.

The only downside, according to Olivia and Gage, is that the cost of swinging can be steep - with one spicy weekend setting them back up to £400 after they've forked out for transport, accommodation, club fees and new lingerie.

Swings and roundabouts, eh guys - no pun intended.
