People in stitches after seeing what got picked up as dad was going through airport security full-body scanner

Randy Peterson's security fiasco fortunately didn't hold up his holiday too much

Going to the airport can be a stressful business but one US dad was left a little red-faced by what cameras captured as he went through security.

If you're not careful to follow all the rules when travelling, no matter how trivial they might seem, then it can often lead to delays or potentially even missing your flight, especially if you're stupid enough to make some unwise jokes when you're boarding a plane.

While most of us are worried about keeping our passport in date or ensuring that our luggage doesn't end up lost, there is always the voice in your head telling you that security will stop you, even when you've done nothing wrong.

As long as you take the liquids and electronics out of your bag, you'll probably be fine, but there are occasions where getting stopped is completely out of your control, as one lad from the US found out when scanners spotted his erection.

And there was a similarly placed issue for Randy Peterson, a dad from the US who was flagged by security staff after an issue was spotted with his downstairs region by the TSA, as he and his family started their trip to New York.

Randy's wife Sara Meyer spoke to Newsweek about the moment he was stopped, after her TikTok video captured the moment for an audience of over eight million people.

She said: "We have three kids so going through TSA has a bunch of moving pieces.

"The family trip was to show the kids New York City, Washington DC, and visit family in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We went for 10 days, so we had a lot of luggage.

"Because I have a pre-check, I take me and the kids and all of the things we're going to take on the plane, and [my husband] just goes through with just himself."

The video shows Randy shrugging as airport staff no doubt question him about anything he might have hidden in his pants, with some even speculating that the dad-of-three might be concealing a secret piercing down in his crown jewels.

Sara, who captioned the viral video as 'that's one way to start the family vacation', wasn't convinced of the reasoning behind her husband being stopped but suggested it might have something to do with his choice of shorts.

One commenter joked: "You're supposed to take the ring off before you go through security."

Another said: "Unexpected item in bagging area."

A few suggested that it may well be because of his brand of shorts, which led Sara to add: "It sounds like it's the drawstrings of his Lululemon shorts he wears when traveling.

"I wear Lululemon joggers as well and I never get flagged," she added, whereas when it comes to her husband, 'it happens to him every single time we go through security.'

"That's why I pulled my phone out, because I was like 'here we go again!," she joked.
