Hotel worker says common mistake guests make can end up costing them more than £100

Hotel worker says common mistake guests make can end up costing them more than £100

This hotel error could end up costing you big time and you could have been guilty of it...

If you’ve recently booked yourself into a hotel just know that this common mistake might cost you a small fortune to rectify.

Traveling often has many perks, from seeing new sights and trying new foods to staying in lavish hotels, but there’s something you shouldn’t even consider doing.

This comes after hotel managers revealed a mistake guests often make that’ll end up costing them £120.

As it turns out, there’s a few people out there who like to get a five-finger discount when staying in luxury and have a penchant for taking souvenirs from their stay.

But we’re not talking about a poxy bar of soap here, those mini toiletries or even slippers.

Take all of the toiletries for all hotel managers care, but it’s the non-removable items they’re vexed about.

Yep, it turns out taking a bathrobe could come with a hefty price tag.

Azadeh Hawkins, creative director at Montage International, told Thrillist: "We went through a very detailed process of sampling, reviewing many options of brands, and focusing on quality and fit to ensure we picked the perfect bathrobes to match the Pendry Hotels & Resorts experience."

Kasey Pinedo, director of rooms at VEA Newport Beach A Marriott Resort & Spa, also talked about her gripe with bathrobe stealers: “Typically in a luxury hotel like VEA, our guests know that a robe can be purchased… We will gladly sell a brand new one to you for $150.

“If you do steal the robe from our luxury resort, we will also gladly charge you $150.”

But other hotel managers give customers the benefit of the doubt and know they become attached to luxury.

Schuyler Clark, general manager of the Craddock Terry Hotel in Lynchburg, VA, explained: “I can’t say it is stealing, more so that there is such a connection to the comfort that they accidentally find their way into their luggage.

“It just slips the mind to mention it upon departure, and we have a process in place to monitor.”

However, innocent or not, it has an impact on the company.

So, you've heard it here - no taking those bathrobes home with you unless you're willing to fork out to buy one of your own.
