How good is the special kind of freedom that comes with hitting the open road for a road trip? You’ve got your mates, your snacks are sorted, and the playlist is back-to-back bangers.

But, because life sometimes finds a way, a good road trip can go sideways, specifically hearing the sad, lonely click of a dead battery. It’s not inevitable, but it happens to plenty of us. We asked you for some of your most outrageous stories of being stuck — those moments where a dead battery has literally stops you dead in your tracks. And you delivered.

Let’s be honest, none of this drama had to happen. All those heroic tales of being stranded? Yeah, they could have been avoided with a little bit of forward thinking, and some help from our mates at Battery World. A quick swing-by one of Battery World’s 110 stores nationwide before you left would’ve saved you from all the grief. Whether it’s getting a free battery health check done, or stocking up on exactly the battery you need, Battery World helps you get on the road without having to worry about going flat.

Now, you sent us some doozies. So let’s dive into two of our faves — and learn how Battery World could’ve stopped this all from going downhill.

Steph, NSW

“My friends and I drove my small car to Hyams Beach which was 3 hours away. About 30 minutes into the drive home, my coolant tank melted and I had to keep pulling over as my car kept overheating. Eventually, we had 2 hours left in the drive and my car completely broke down as we waited on the Hume Highway for roadside assistance to come and help us. Not only that, but a truck driving past randomly lit up in flames and we were stuck on the road with this inferno truck about to blow up with nowhere to go.

“We eventually learned that my coolant tank melting all stemmed from a chain reaction that started from a weak battery. I had zero clue.”

As we already know, a stop by Battery World for a free battery health check would’ve been the ultimate preventative measure here. One of Battery World’s experts could have diagnosed the issue, and helped Steph find the perfect replacement so she could’ve had her road trip to the beach and come home without a snag.

Issy, VIC

“Basically me and my ex went on a road trip for what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday, but we ended up fighting and packing up early for what was already going to be an awkward drive home.

“About halfway there, the car battery dies and I literally could not think of anything worse. My ex was really stubborn and assumed he could fix it (spoiler alert: he couldn’t). We were there for hours before he called for help. So embarrassing.”

OK, wow, that is not an ideal situation at all. Your ex-boyfriend might not have been able to fix it, but Battery World offers roadside assistance where an expert will come to your location to test and, if needed, replace the battery on the spot. This service is designed to be a quick and convenient solution to get you moving again without the hassle of getting a tow truck in.

It sounds like you had enough problems going on — you shouldn’t have had to worry about the car battery.

And, if you don’t want to end up like Issy and Steph had to, head to your local Battery World store for a free battery health check, or visit online to stock up on what you need. Better to be safe than sorry.
