It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas, especially if you want to escape somewhere a little more festive than the UK.

And TikTokers are raving about a spot that's been dubbed the perfect ‘Lapland alternative’ for people who don't want to shell out thousands on a festive break, with Brits sharing snippets of their travels to the 'winter wonderland' which looks nothing short of magical.

One traveller by the name of @pialessing shared some of the festive activities on offer at the European city (which is currently offering flights for just £66) and we already feel warm and fuzzy inside.

In the video, the social media influencer lists ‘chasing the Northern Lights’, ‘visiting a reindeer farm’, and ‘swimming in the arctic’ as the best activities to do there.

Followers rushed to express their excitement in the comments. One wrote, “So many cool things to do!!! Added them to my bucket list.”

Another panicked about the secret getting out, as they wrote: “Stop giving away Tromso to the world. Let’s keep it a secret.”

A third added: “I miss Tromso! Would recommend going husky sledding too.” OK, that’s going on the list too.

What to do in Tromso at Christmas

In the build-up to Christmas, Tromso in Norway comes to life. Decked in twinkly festive lights with real life snow, there’s no better place in the world to feel festive - even if you’re the biggest Scrooge in town.

There are plenty of activities to book, from once-in-a-lifetime whale-watching tours and reindeer farms to traditional Christmas markets.

The biggest draw? It’s also a opportunity to see the Northern Lights - we know it's on your bucket list.

In fact, Tromso is situated above the Arctic Circle and is further north than the Finnish Lapland, so it's an even better chance to see the natural light show in all its glory.

How to visit the Lapland alternative for £66 return

The place dubbed the ‘Lapland alternative’ is Tromso in Norway and you can travel there from the UK for just £66 return via booking.com. Yes, Christmas has indeed come early.

The flight departs from London’s Luton Airport on November 9 at 2.15pm and returns on November 16 at 7.25pm with Wizz Air - plenty of time to tick off reindeer feeds, go husky sledding, and sup as much mulled wine as you possibly can.

The flight time is around 3.5 hours but you'll need to hurry, flights are sure to sell out before you even have time to put the Christmas tree up.

Alternatively, there are flights from Manchester starting at around £90 return.
