Christmas has come early, as Brits have found a way to bag flights and accommodation to Europe’s ‘best Christmas market’ for just over £100.

Each year, the Norweigian city of Oslo transforms into a ‘magical winter wonderland’ with twinkly lights, traditional market stalls, carol singers, and even an ice skating rink.

The Scandinavian capital offers a breadth of festive delights for foodies too, from homegrown mulled wine locally known as Gløgg to pepperkaker (gingerbread cookies), and roasted chestnuts. It’s also a great time of year to bag some last-minute presents for family and friends with unique crafts, festive ornaments, and souvenirs to take home.

There are lots of different Christmas markets to visit in Oslo, but the biggest and most renowned is situated in Spikersuppa on Karl Johans gate. Known as Jul i Vinterland, it's gone viral on TikTok, with visitors flocking there every year for its cosy open fires, hot chocolate, and famous ice skating rink.

Just outside of Oslo, you’ll find Baerums Verk, which is known for its historic buildings and charming horse and carriage rides. It’s worth adding to your itinerary if there’s time, to stock up on seasonal treats to take home. So, what are people saying about Oslo’s Christmas markets?

One visitor wrote on Tripadvisor, “When we visited Oslo in January, the blanket of snow covering the streets and sidewalks lent the place a magical, almost winter wonderland-like atmosphere. With tall trees with bare branches lining the wide sidewalk at regular intervals, the snow-carpeted walk was a beautiful sight to behold.”

Another added: “The Christmas markets are amazing and magical with a sprinkle of snow.”

A third visitor described the area as ‘cosy’ at Christmas. They wrote: “Take a stroll through this area, it’s cosy with all kinds of local produce: such as elk and moose dishes, sausages, caramelised apples, fries, and churros. Also nicknacks of different sorts and amusement rides.”

How to visit Europe’s 'best Christmas market' for £109

You can now book flights and accommodation to Oslo’s famous Christmas markets for £109. To bag the cheapest deal, you’ll need to fly from Manchester airport on Monday 18 November and return on Wednesday 20 November. The flight time is around two hours from the UK, depending on which airport you're flying from.

If you don’t want to book time off work and are happy to spend a little more, the cheapest weekend trip to Oslo comes in at £205. The flight will depart from Manchester on Friday 22 November and return on Sunday 24 November. If you're interested, make sure to hurry, as the deal is selling fast.
