A woman who was spending £150-a-week at McDoanld's has lost over half her bodyweight after ditching the Big Macs.

Marci Gordon had been paying regular visits to McDonald's for the past 18 years. She thought nothing of going in on the way to work to order two sausage McMuffins, hash browns and a large drink, and then popping back in at lunch for a Big Mac, two cheeseburgers, large fries and another large drink.

She would also use chocolate bars, doughnuts and crisps to get her through the day, before going home and eating fried chicken with her husband.

At her heaviest, Marci weighed 23.5st and was getting warnings from doctors who told her that her overeating would kill her.

Marci, from Florida, struggled to stick to a diet until her little boy, Kordae, came home from school one day and told her the other kids were picking on him because she was so big.

Using that as motivation, Marci has now dropped almost 12st, going from a US size 24 to an eight.

Marci said: "I hated the way I looked. I used to look at other people and think, 'I wish I could look like that'. I didn't feel feminine or beautiful.

"People would stare and I couldn't even fit into the office chair. I thought, 'I'll be fat forever. This is how I'm meant to be'.

"It was only when I realised it was affecting my kids that I realised enough was enough. The thought of my little boy having to defend me broke my heart.

"We have a very close relationship and I wanted him to be proud of me, not having kids bullying him and telling him his mom is fat.

"He said he had told them that I wasn't fat and that I had a baby in my belly and I had to tell him I had given birth one-and-a-half years ago.

"He asked me why I was fat and I didn't have an answer. He said, 'Do you think you could wake up tomorrow and not be fat?'. The look on his face made me feel that I had disappointed him. I was devastated.

"I cried all night and when I woke up the next morning everything changed."

She vowed to swerve the fast food, and went for fruit, vegetables and lean chicken instead. She cut her calorie intake from 8,000-a-day to 1,500 and started exercising.

Marci added: "The first two weeks were super hard, but after that it got easier. My body was in shock - I was living a completely different life.

"After a few months I started wearing skirts and dresses and people were telling me how great I looked.

"The best thing was that my son used to try and fit his arms around me and it made me sad that he couldn't reach. When he was finally able to, after about six months, he gave me a hug and said, 'Mommy, I can fit my arms all the way round'.

"I cried so much. It was an incredible moment."
