Like something out of Annabelle or Child's Play, a family have resorted to locking a doll in their shed after claiming it has haunted their home and scratched them during the night.

Ok, maybe it's not as extreme as the latter movie's murderous Chucky - a doll possessed by a vengeful serial killer - but this toy has caused enough damage to have the owner scared of it.

Only three weeks ago, Debbie Merrick, 50, purchased the doll from a charity shop along with two others.

Debbie and husband Cameron, also 50, have even had a medium invited to their house to investigate.

The medium confirmed that the doll did have 'something in it', and following Cameron's unexplained scratches, Debbie put two and two together, and placed it in the shed.

Since its banishment, the doll has apparently removed a miniature pearl necklace that it had previously been wearing.

Debbie, from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, said: "I don't know why I decided to buy the dolls. It was a bit strange, but at the time I didn't think much about it. Even that's unusual.

"They were really cheap, they were only £5 I think, and I thought they would probably be worth quite a bit of money.

"It's really the one doll with the white dress I don't like. I didn't particularly even like touching the one when I bought it. The other two I don't mind as much.

"The smoke alarms keep going off, and one night I heard the floorboards creaking and though it might have been my daughter, Holly, up, but when I checked on her she was asleep."

Her husband noticed the painful scratches, all over his legs, when waking up the next morning.

Cameron refuses to believe that the doll is to blame, not believing in the paranormal world, but is yet to find a suitable explanation.

"I've had a nightmare about a doll dragging itself along the floor towards me," added Debbie.

This is not the first time Debbie has experienced something of the paranormal - she also claims to have seen a ghost at the age of five.

Debbie has now stuck the doll on eBay for £25 in the hope of getting rid of it.

She explained: "I took some pictures of it because I wanted to put it on eBay, then left it. I even struggled to upload the pictures to eBay. It was really strange - that had never happened before.

"I don't want to go back into the shed now. I won't touch it again - it can get picked up if it's bought, and if we need to post it my husband can package it up.

"Some people on social media have told me it has something in it, some said it doesn't."

Debbie added that if it doesn't sell, it's going to another charity shop.

"It's the women in my family who experience paranormal things," she explained. "In my last house, there was definitely something there.

"I think my dad, who died recently, might be trying to get in touch."
