Sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night convinced that something's just touched you, but usually that's just a fleck of dust or, at worst, a mosquito. But what about a massive python? Erm, NO THANKS.

Kaew Sudsopha, 75, was lying in her bed sleeping when a sharp pain in her foot woke her up.

In footage from a CCTV camera set up by her son, Nakorn, you can see her foot dangling off the edge of the bed as the huge snake inches closer to her bed from across the room - its eyes glowing, which of course isn't creepy at all.

''I thought I was having a nightmare," Kaew explained.

"There was a sharp pain in my foot and I woke up. I turned on the torch and noticed something moving on the floor. That's when I saw the snake.

''I said 'where did you come from?' and walked out as quickly as I could.

''I don't know why the snake bit me, I was sleeping, not threatening it. Now I'm terrified to sleep in that room again.''

Her son came rushing into the room and turned on the lights, before managing to chase the snake away from his mum.

When rescue workers arrived at the house, they found the snake curled up on the toilet seat in the bathroom. They then dragged the python outside, before bagging it up and taking it off to a holding centre - where snakes can be logged before being returned back into the wild.

Nakorn, an engineer, commended his mum for staying calm, saying: ''I'm proud of my mother for staying calm. I don't know how the snake got there but I presumed that the snake came from the pipe and crawling up from the toilet.

''My mother likes to leave the bathroom door open, so the snake slithered out from the toilet to her bedroom.

''I want others to be aware that accident could happen anytime even while you were sleeping.

"If your house was located near fields or rivers, it should be the best to try and prevent the snake from coming into your house.''

Suddenly, all those times you've heard the distant buzz of a mosquito somewhere in your bedroom don't seem quite so bad, do they?
