The latest trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water just dropped and hyperventilating doesn't even cut it. Check out the mind-blowing new preview below:

The latest trailer for director James Cameron’s much-anticipated Avatar sequel aired on Good Morning America on Wednesday (2 November) and the internet is well and truly losing its s**t over the new footage.

The first trailer for Avatar 2 dropped back in May, and fans have been chomping at the bit for more footage for nearly six months now.

What’s more, Cameron revealed in a recent interview that he’s already started working on the fourth (yes, fourth) Avatar movie, which isn’t set to hit screens until 2026, with a fifth flick arriving two years later.

He told Variety last month: “We’ve completed most of the first act of Avatar 4 and there were logistical reasons why we needed to do that.”

As for the third instalment, which is rumoured to be called Avatar: The Seed Bearer, we can expect to wrap our eyeballs around that bad boy in 2023.

Released 13 years after the original, The Way Of Water will once again be presented in 3D and will make up the first of four follow-up movies.

The official synopsis for Way of Water reads: "Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) have formed a family and are doing everything to stay together.

"However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans."

Over summer, the much-anticipated sequel was billed as being ‘the most insanely complicated movie ever made'.

Speaking at 2022’s DGA Digital Day in August, Cameron shared new details about the sequel’s intricate filming process, which fellow director Liam O’Donnell admitted ‘blew his mind’.

When new Way of Water footage was shown during Cameron’s keynote speech, O’Donnell immediately took to Twitter to exclaim: “AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER appears to be the most insanely complicated movie ever made. Holy s**t. James Cameron’s Digital Day keynote just broke my brain.”

O’Donnell shared details about the ‘badass’ new scenes shown, including one in which Sam Worthington’s character fires a machine gun underwater while riding on an alien whale.

Elaborating on Twitter, he continued: “Just the amount of data they captured... Underwater performance capture with 15 cameras. 2 cams on every actor’s face capture.

“Underwater reference capture for fully CG creatures. Oh yeah and infrared depth capture to place CG characters in the live action footage.”
