The first trailer for the upcoming Peaky Blinders film has shown the first look at the return of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby.
The upcoming Peaky Blinders film is set to debut on Netflix and will see Murphy return to the role that propelled him from well-known character actor to global superstar.
Called The Immortal Man, he is joined by a star-studded cast of both returning names and new celebrity faces joining the world of the Peaky Blinders.
This includes Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth, as well as the returning castmates Sophie Rundle and Stephen Graham.

Announcing his return for a Netflix film back in June of last year, Murphy said: "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me
"It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."

The trailer came with an official synopsis which gives hints as to why Tommy is returning.
It reads: "Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…"
The return of Tommy Shelby has raised fan expectations for the film, with multiple people on social media speaking about how they wouldn't watch any more Peaky Blinders unless Tommy was back.
One comment on Reddit said: "I got chills. I know the 'being forced back into your old life' is an overly used trope. But I’m excited. I doubt Cillian would have done it unless he was excited by the story."

Another comment said: "I am in shock this is going to be crazy."
The film has still yet to confirm whether Paul Anderson will be returning as Arthur Shelby for the film.
The TV show ended with Arthur leaving a rather ambiguous 'goodbye' note for Tommy, leading some fans to wonder whether he had died by suicide.
Anderson has himself been facing legal troubles, receiving a fine after being caught with crack cocaine in a pub in early 2024.
Early reports stated he was likely to be involved, however Mail Online suggested that his legal problems may lead to him being written out of the script.

Speaking about the upcoming Netflix film, writer Steven Knight spoke with Empire about how the movie is set during World War 2, saying: "It’s also the end of empire: we enter the Second World War and by the end of it, there is no empire, really. But I… have revised the scope of what it is.
"It will now go into and beyond the Second World War. Because I just think the energy that is out there in the world for this, I want to keep it going, and I want to see how this can progress beyond that.”
