Bridezilla demands guests to step in knee deep water during her wedding ceremony

Guests were only told about it on the day of the wedding with the couple refusing to tie the knot if their loved ones didn't comply.

Guests at a wedding over in the United States were left confused after the bride asked them to stand in knee-deep water for the entire ceremony.

After initial pushback from friends and family of the bride and groom, the couple dug their heels in the mud and refused to start the ceremony until their guests complied.

Eventually those in attendance agreed and the couple ended up tying the knot – even with cold, dirty feet.

There's nothing like attending a beautiful wedding where you get to eat and drink yourself silly while sharing fond memories of the newlyweds.

But for guests at a recent wedding on American shores, their experience was quite the opposite.

Prior to their arrival on the big day, friends and family of the bride and groom weren't notified that they'd be standing knee-deep in water for the formalities.

Rather unsurprisingly, friends and family of the bride and groom weren't too fond of the idea when they were notified and one person decided to vent their frustrations online.

In a now-deleted Reddit thread, one guest said that she knew nothing of the plans – despite being the sister-in-law.

She explained that the couple were standing "a little strip of land so they were not wet," while "all attendees were expected to stand in knee-deep rushing water for the whole ceremony."

The fuming guest added that small children were "left in ankle-deep water nearby".

"I'm sure it made for great photos, but I personally really dislike mud, germs, insects, and whatever diseases are found in that stream," the guest added.

"Apparently most people there knew about the water thing, but I didn't. My husband claims he 'forgot to tell me'."

Apparently news of the unique location resulted in a huge argument on the day.

"The ceremony could have easily moved forward with me standing on the shore, just a few feet away from the kids, but nooooo," the person explained.

"The bride and groom apparently refused to start until every person was in the water, and my husband waded in the water back and forth between his sister and me to mediate – my husband was becoming visibly angry at me the longer it went on and kept acting like I was in the wrong.

"The bride and groom eventually relented and the ceremony went on, delayed by maybe 30 mins – in the after-party, I felt that I was being avoided by everyone else, including my husband."

The Reddit thread went viral online and eventually made its way onto Twitter where users began wading in.

One post which garnered plenty attention, simply read: "Wedding culture has gotten insane and should be studied as a symptom of societal collapse."

That tweet, which also included a screenshot of the origin Reddit forum, racked up over 30,000 likes.
