Celebrity Chef Shares Hilariously Large Cocktail Recipe While In Self-Isolation

"You need a big pitcher ‘cause I like to make a lot of Cosmos. You never know who’s gonna stop by. Wait a minute... no one’s stopping by.”

Celebrity chef Ina Garten has provided people in coronavirus lockdown with a much needed laugh.

The American author and host of the Food Network programme Barefoot Contessa has revealed one of her favourite recipes to make during self-isolation: a cocktail.

Loads of us are trying new things while staying inside to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and baking, cooking and mixing are high on many people's lists.

But Ms Garten's recipe for a simple Cosmopolitan has gathered so much attention purely for just how big it is.

The chef uploaded the video at 9:30 in the morning, according to The Cut.

No one is shaming anyone for drinking that early and, who knows, she might have recorded the video later in the day and uploaded it when she did. Who cares, it's lockdown, baby!

Ina said it's important to keep traditions alive during this period and her favourite is the 'cocktail hour'.

Then we get blessed with how to make the mother of all Cosmos.

The chef said to her followers: "You need a big pitcher 'cause I like to make a lot of Cosmos. You never know who's gonna stop by. Wait a minute... no one's stopping by."

You'll need two cups of vodka (good vodka by the way), one cup of triple sec, one cup of cranberry juice cocktail and then half a cup of freshly squeezed lime juice. Chuck it all together in a massive mixer with ice and then serve into your obnoxiously large cocktail glass.

Ka-blammo: you have yourself a cocktail that will get you wasted before lunch time.

Her sign off was classic and iconic: "Stay safe, have a very good time and don't forget the cocktails."

This is 100 per cent the energy we need during our coronavirus lockdown.

Just be careful though how many of these bad boys you knock back while in self-isolation.

The World Health Organization has warned people against hitting the booze as a way to mentally get through quarantine.

The WHO said alcohol is an 'unhelpful coping strategy' during this time and says people could exacerbate drinking problems or create one.

So, if you're feeling a little bored then make a grandiose cocktail. But just be careful.
