Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel send 'message to the haters' after controversial marriage

Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel have sent a message to 'the haters' on social media.

Earlier this week, many were shocked to learn via public records that Abby tied the knot to nurse and US Army veteran, Josh Bowling, back in 2021.

Since then, social media users have been desperate to know more about their lives, including details on their relationships, and how it works.

Public records showed that Abby got married to her husband in 2021.

Abby and Brittany, from Minnesota, are dicephalus conjoined twins, which means they share a bloodstream and all of the organs below the waist.

They still have two hearts, however, and Abby controls the right limbs while Brittany controls the left.

When it comes to eating, the pair will sometimes have separate meals, but will ideally tend to stick to a single meal.

While they do have two digestive systems and two separate stomaches, because they share the same bladder and excretion system, sometimes one meal is more convenient.

Another common question is whether the twins will ever welcome children.

"That is probably something that could work because those organs do work for them," the twins' mum explained in a documentary titled Joined For Life.

"Yeah, we're going to be moms," Brittany agreed at the time.

Pictures of Abby and Josh's wedding were posted on social media.

Following heaps of questions and an influx of comments online about their lives, the twins recently uploaded a TikTok video saying that 'the internet is extra LOUD today'.

They then shared a separate clip, with a message to 'the haters'.

The video revealed a photo with Josh, in which they wrote: “This is a message to all the haters out there.

“If you don’t like what I do, but watch everything I’m doing, you’re still a fan.”

The renewed attention on the twins came about recently following resurfaced photos from Abby and Josh's wedding.

People on Reddit started to question the legal side of the marriage, with one user asking: "How does this unfold legally? Since they are two people married to one man, who is on the marriage certificate?"

However, someone has clarified how it could work, replying: "One of the twins will be the legal spouse as far as the state is concerned. So it is theoretically possible that the other twin could someday decide to marry a different person.

"But given the way they have had to harmonise their entire lives, I imagine they would find it easier to stick to being married to just one person."
