Oasis stars' brother Paul Gallagher, 59, is charged with rape

Paul Gallagher has been charged with a number of sexual offences

Paul Gallagher, the older brother of Oasis members Noel and Liam, has been charged with rape, among other sexual offences.

According to The Telegraph, the 59-year-old was charged by Scotland Yard following an investigation which began in 2024.

In addition to rape, he is also accused of sexual assault, coercive control and making threats to kill.

Paul is due to appear in court in August.

The news of these charges broke in the midst of Oasis' return tour, with three more dates booked in at Wembley before moving onto Edinburgh and Dublin and then moving away from the British Isles.

Noel and Liam played five shows at the iconic Heaton Park in Manchester over the course of July, after two opening shows in Cardiff, Wales.

Paul, who is seven years older than Liam and a year older than Noel, grew up with them in Burnage, Manchester.

He has never been involved in the pair's band though.

The former DJ and photographer currently lives in north London in an apartment which was bought by Noel in 2004.

“Paul Gallagher, 59, of Manor Park Road, East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated.

They added: “The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022-2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.”

Paul is expected to appear in Westminster magistrates' court on Wednesday (27 August).

In a previous interview with RGM Music, Paul admitted he wanted to stay out of the limelight, explaining: "I live a regular life, I live amongst the lower middle classes."

The Oasis reunion is undoubtedly one of the biggest music events of the year, though Noel admitted that one person was responsible for making it all happen.

As per The Mirror, the guitarist hinted that Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs had a big role to play in making the reunion happen.

When returning to stage for an encore during one of their Cardiff shows, he turned to fellow guitarist Arthurs, claiming: "On guitar, if it wasn't for him, none of this would have happened."
