Doritos has left Australia shocked after launching divisive coriander flavour

People were questioning whether this was a late April Fool's Day joke, but it is very real.

Doritos has well and truly left Australia shocked with its latest flavour.

While fans are well versed with the likes of Cheese Supreme, Mexicana, Original Salted, Thai Sweet Chilli, and Nacho Cheese, they were not ready for this latest instalment.

*drum roll please*

Doritos has made a limited-edition Coriander version of their legendary tortilla chip.

They've posted on Instagram about how there will be some lucky Aussies who will get a shot at getting their grubby little mitts on a bag.

"Win 1 of 25 packs of Doritos Coriander per day," the company wrote on social media.

"Tell us why you love or hate coriander in the comments and the best answers will win 1 of 350 packs of new, limited-edition Doritos Coriander.

"In 100 words or less, comment on why you love or hate coriander!"

Coriander is one of those food items that splits people down the middle.

Some believe it's the devil's herb sent to Earth to ruin every food that it touches, while others will sprinkle it on every meal to enhance the flavour.

So, naturally, people had some strong opinions about this new Doritos flavour.

One user wrote: "Is this a joke? This is not April? I LOVE CORIANDER OMFG."

Another added: "Why would you want to eat soapy leaves when you can eat other, better tasting leaves and 'leaf' the soap in the shower? I’d give it a go and see if it could change my mind, maybe it’ll clean my insides."

A third said: "I must try these! I literally eat coriander out if the herb garden! I will even promote them for you! Please may I have some!!!"

Sadly these bad boys won't be available to purchase and will only be delivered to the lucky or unlucky people who enter the competition.

Vandita Pandey, Chief Marketing Officer ANZ, PepsiCo said in a statement: “We’re excited to see the reaction of chip-lovers from across the country as they try our super-limited-edition Doritos Coriander.

"We know some Doritos fans are going to love it, but we also know some will hate it – our legendry triangular corn chip is ready to put tastebuds to the test.

"With the taste of coriander being one of Australia’s most divisive flavours we want to boldly launch the flavour in chip form and see if coriander really does taste like soap.

"Will it be a sensational hit or a soapy miss? Let us know your thoughts and tag us on social.”
