A ‘viscerally horrible’ scene from a brand new horror film has forced some fans to look away.
2025 is looking to be an outstanding year for horror, with the bizarre Dave Franco and Alison Brie body horror Together just around the corner and 28 Years Later receiving plaudits across the board.
One horror, however, has only just released in the UK, multiple months after it was released in the United States, and it is absolutely shocking audiences.

The movie is the sophomore outing from the Phillipou brothers, formerly YouTubers known as RackaRacka.
Their debut feature, Talk to Me, was widely praised but their second film, Bring Her Back, has got fans watching scenes through their fingers.
The film focuses on a pair of step-siblings sent to a new home after their father dies in a shock accident.
Once they arrive, their new foster mum exhibits some bizarre behaviour and appears to be carrying out some sort of terrifying ritual to bring back her deceased daughter.

The film stars Sally Hawkins alongside child stars from Australia Sora Wong, Billy Barratt, and Jonah Wren Phillips.
Directors Danny and Michael Phillipou did some bizarre research for the film, even revealing in an exclusive interview with LADbible that they had gone undercover to meet real necromancers for the film.
Sitting at 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it has received widespread praise, with Clarisse Loughrey of The Independent giving it a four star review.

She said in her review: “It’s just as sticky and visceral as Talk to Me. But while their first film was mean-spirited like a hell-born prank, this feels mean-spirited like a ruthless therapist tearing your psyche out chunk by chunk.”

Meanwhile, Mark Kermode said in his review of the film that has a ‘growing atmosphere of dread and unease... it feels like the clammy, cold mud of an open grave in which you have been buried alive'.
Fans are coming out with very similar reviews, however, some have picked out one scene in particular.
Minor spoilers for Bring Her Back.
If you have a queasy stomach when it comes to gore, Bring Her Back is not for you. Wren Phillips brilliantly plays Ollie, a mute child who appears to be possessed in a way linked to the ritual.
At one point, he and Andy, the older of the two siblings, are left in the home alone.

Andy goes to hand him Ollie melon on the end of a knife and the mute child proceeds to stick the knife into his own mouth, brutalising himself in the process.

The horrifying moment has had a number of people watching from behind their fingers or looking away altogether.
In the official discussion of the film on Reddit, one fan said: “I am usually okay with gore but Oliver eating the knife was the most I’ve ever squirmed during a movie.”
A second said: "These guys will make the most viscerally horrible violence that feels so intense and uncomfortable. I love it. That knife and table scene was HARD to watch."

Another comment read: “I’ve seen some pretty messed up movies/videos, but man that knife scene did something to me.”
A third took to X, saying: “I just watched Bring her Back and I can still feel that knife in my teeth. Those producers are insane.”
Meanwhile, another posted the scene to X, saying it left them speechless, leading one reply to say: "This scene will be causing trauma for decades to come."
Bring Her Back is available to watch in cinemas now.
