The 'Shape of You' singer took to the subway in Brooklyn, New York to surprise Mike Yung - a busker who has previously gone viral for covering 'Thinking Out Loud', and who even appeared on America's Got Talent.

The busker's reaction is the definition of wholesome, and the surprises didn't stop there either, as fans leapt to social media in awe of the events that unfolded.

Yung shared an image of himself and Sheeran, alongside a video of the surprise taking place.

In the video, Sheeran can be seen creeping up behind the busker with a camera crew in tow, as Yung performs a rendition of one of his hits 'Eyes Closed, and Sheeran revealing himself by hopping in to harmonise.

The pair then continue to sing the song, but this time together, Sheeran bopping his head up and down smiling, resolving, "Beautiful man."

The pair then sung together.

A final resolved: "@teddysphotos Record a duet with Mike!! That would be [fire emojis]."

This isn't the first time Sheeran has paid a surprise visit to a fan, since visiting Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane armed with his guitar to play to a group of sick children.

Sheeran also gave Wayne Lineker one of the 'greatest moments of his life' after popping up at O Beach in Ibiza.

Taking to Instagram, Lineker said: "So this just happened… I can’t ha #wtf and all from the kindness of his heart. @teddysphotos thank you."

"The younger brother of Gary Lineker also said: "Up there with the greatest moments of my life. When Ed Sheeran pops on the stage for a sing song."
