Elon Musk says a low global birth rate is far more serious than global warming

Considering Musk has eight kids, he definitely practices what he preaches.

Elon Musk is far more concerned about the the global birth rate than global warming or climate change.

The tech billionaire has taken to Twitter to express his worries about the future and how not enough people are focusing on the big issue at hand.

The Tesla CEO wrote: “Population collapse due to low birth rates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming.”

He added a follow-up: “Mark these words.”

Many users panned Musk’s theory as one person wrote: “Shame on everyone in power who spent years claiming this man’s capitalist enterprises were the solution to global warming.”

Another said: “Ignore. This is a bot.”

A third person commented: “And you know what's the cause of it.”

While another shared: “The planet would be much better off without humans. His argument is flawed.”

Considering Musk has eight kids already, he definitely practices what he preaches.

However, this isn’t the only time the SpaceX founder has attempted to dismiss the ‘overpopulation myth’.

Earlier this year, while speaking with Mathias Döpfner in a 45-minute interview, the billionaire maintained that the Earth could sustain far more people than we initially thought.

He said: "Most people in the world are operating under the false impression that we've got too many people.

"This is not true. Earth could maintain a population many times the current level. The birth rate has been dropping like crazy."

However, Musk’s claims conflict with many experts on the matter.

ABC News reports that if mankind wanted to continue to live without making any changes to combat climate change, the Earth would only be able to sustain 1.9 billion people.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change also revealed that there is an overpopulation crisis that is accelerating the climate disaster simultaneously.

The organisation attributed most of the Earth’s warming occurring in the past 50 years to humankind's activities, particularly greenhouse gas emissions from high-income countries, according to its Climate Change 2022 report.

According to Population Matters, while many factors are causing global warming, the increasing population remains a prevalent issue.

They pointed to activities such as deforestation as one of the driving forces.

Their website reads: “The number of people on our planet is one of those factors. Every additional person increases carbon emissions — the rich far more than the poor — and increases the number of climate change victims – the poor far more than the rich.”
