Today is a very important day, that's because Greggs has announced it is rolling out home delivery across the country. Hallelujah and praise the Lord!

It's a day many of us had hoped would come much sooner but, as they say, good things come to those who wait. And this surely is a very good thing indeed.

The announcement comes after successful trials in London, Newcastle, and Glasgow, where Greggs has been working exclusively with Just Eat to provide the bakery's favourites, direct to customers' doors.

As a result, Greggs and Just Eat have decided to continue their relationship, and the nationwide roll-out with start this week, with Bristol and Birmingham both being added to the list of existing cities.

Joe Swash is very excited by the news.

But what about your city? Well, that depends on how much you really want it.

The folks over at Just Eat surveyed nation, asking them which cities should get delivery first, and they received more than 38,000 responses.

After Birmingham and Bristol, delivery will then be launched in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, and Nottingham in the spring. It's then hoped that the rest of the country will also benefit from home delivery by the end of the year.

Speaking about the big news, Roger Whiteside, Greggs chief executive, said he was ecstatic and can't wait to bring the bakery's tasty treats directly to the nation's front doors.

Soon there may be no need to queue for your favourite pasty or pastry.

He commented: "We know from the trials we have carried out, that our customers love the idea that they can get Greggs delivered directly to their door and we're delighted to now be working with Just Eat to provide that service to our customers across the UK by the end of this year."

While Andrew Kenny, the managing director of Just Eat UK, said it was an extremely exciting development for food lovers up and down the country.

"We're proud to be the only food delivery app that can bring you the likes of the Greggs Vegan Sausage Roll wherever you are," he added.

"This is an exciting exclusive partnership for Just Eat. Greggs has proved extremely popular with our customers, especially during breakfast, demonstrating that as a nation we love the convenience of getting our favourite food delivered - be it a Greggs bacon baguette and coffee on a Tuesday or your local Thai at the weekend."
